#peach fuzzies

Haven't posted my Squishy Face in a while so here he is! He's already a year and a half old and weighed 45 grams a couple months ago when I last weighed him. He's a bit small compared to his clutchmates at the husbandry lab on campus were I got him but that's supposed to be normal for the 'odd' morph. He does have some belly flab going on that you can see in the picture (he pooped today, that is not a waiting bomb) so I'm not going to rush him to keep up with his clutchmates for size of food, he's getting peach fuzzies until he loses the fat and grows more. I plan on getting him officially sexed Wednesday so I'm super excited about that!! I'm kind of hoping for a female so I can get another female from the lab I've had my eye on and temporarily house them together until I have proper space, but I'm also kind of hoping for a male just so I'm not tempted to get a second corn at the current time...

8 day old peach fuzzies~ compared to yesterday, they're looking much sleeker. the fur on their backs has grown in, but their bellies are still pink~

i'm pretty amazed that they all appear to be the same shade of brown, especially considering that their daddy is two-toned, and their mama is white. some of them might have white on their tails, like the one pictured above, but it could also just be residual dry skin, so i'll wait to make any assumptions.

in the next couple of days, the fur should start growing in on their bellies, and i'll be able to tell then what sex they are, due to the fur growing in little swirls around the nipples, which only the girls have. i could probably see the nipples now, but it will be much easier then, and since the babies don't like being on their backs, i'd rather do it when i can do it the quickest. it's mostly just to get a count on how many males and females i have, of course, since once the fur on their bellies gets too thick, i won't be able to determine sex very accurately again until they're 3-4 weeks old, when their genitals have fully developed.

5 days old~ compared to yesterday, their ear flaps have grown even more, and their eyes are now developed enough to be light sensitive, which is why i only managed one photo with a face before they all went into "dive dive dive" mode. their eye lids are also forming. their whiskers and fur are starting to grow in, as well, though you might not be able to tell much on the fur, since it's just barely. but when i run my finger over them, i can feel it. it feels like peach fuzz~ which is fitting, because they've now graduated from being pinkies to being peach fuzzies!!
