My New Years Resolution is.... to be more active! I love being part of the fandom community and it brings me a lot of joy, but unfortunately work stuff has been getting in the way. I'm trying to set better boundaries on not bringing work home with me and letting myself enjoy the free time!

So with that, I am SO EXCITED to spend time celebrating one of my favorite fics from last year - though I admit, I'm biased because it was written for my prompt. My bias aside, I think you'll fly - I mean fall - in love with this fic as much as I have!

Birds Behaving Badly by @peachpety (10,543 words, rated E)

For eight years, Draco has been content living a quiet life of anonymity in Brighton, dodging pesky seagulls and enjoying the ephemeral boys of summer. And if these summer blokes just happen to resemble Harry Potter, it’s a mere coincidence—despite what his friends say.

But when a repeat one-night stand challenges him to face his desires, Draco thinks he’s finally over his years-long crush.

A seagull named Kevin thinks otherwise.

Written for the @unleashed-fest, hosted by @stavromulabetaaa and @getawayfox, this fic features all the fun familar friends (Hermione, Ron, Pansy, Greg, Blaise), Harry and Draco tiptoeing around admitting their respective crushes, but the star of the fic is a fearless seagull named Kevin who is a "morally corrupt perpetrator of havoc."

Peach did such a great job writing this fic! It's so humorous - I laughed out loud several times, and read a couple lines to my partner because I was enjoying it so much! Though I generally regard seagulls as rats with wings (Draco and I have this in common), I am a Kevin stan, and would die for him.

If you've ever lost a piece of food to a bird, this fic is for you.

Ron/Draco Fest — Better Together 2021

Peach, this gift is for you because you’re an amazing person, my very first (and very best) fandom friend, and are always there when I need someone to bounce ideas off of. I couldn’t have completed my 2021 Wireless without you! (Seriously, Peach beta’d my fic while away on vacation!)

So here’s the thing. I love ALL of Peach’s fics. She brings a certain quality that’s unique to her, a perfect blend of whimsy, fluff and smut, and I can’t get enough. But there’s a special place in my heart for A Weasel in the Hamptons. You see, I had never read Dron before. But I knew with Peach writing it, the story would be fantastic. And lemme tell you, I credit this fic with turning me into a Dron shipper, and it has had me coming back for a reread on many occasions.

AWITH will transport you to the Hamptons, hit you with all the feels, and captivate you with the laugh-out-loud moments and off-the-charts chemistry between two perfectly imperfect individuals finding what they didn’t know they needed.

Naturally, I have been dying for art for this fic since my first read. Honestly, it was hard to pick just one scene because there are so many enticing ones. But I finally decided on the brilliant pool scene, one of my absolute favourite scenes.

I LOVE @kryptidfox Reese’s art, and just knew their style would be perfect for this fic. IT’S SOOOOOO GOOD. I love the colour scheme, the sense of movement, all the little details (the heart beauty mark!!!), and Reese’s idea to show both above and below the water is inspired.

It came to my attention that @peachpety has been going through a hard time lately and I thought “how convenient that I just found out one of my favorite QF fics is hers!” so here I am - and by the way, this is a humble single rec but have you checked @sweet-s0rr0w’s fabulous reclist with five of Peach’s amazing works? She posted earlier today and inspired me to follow up on a “Peach appreciation day” train so join us and go check all of those first, then come and scream about this brilliant, hilarious, spicy and sweet AU with me!

It’s funny how I don’t usually indulge AUs in this fandom - I’ve read my fair share of Starker High School AUs in the past and always had a blast which was enough to let me know I genuinely enjoy this trope, but for some reason I feel far too attached to Hogwarts and magic to explore something outside the Wizarding world that often. But I was dead and buried in laughter as soon as I started this gem - I got completely sidetracked by the most perfect High School vibes, the light, sweet and silly atmosphere, the hilarious and adorable characters, the witty and chaotic dialogue! I stg I didn’t know this was Peach’s writing when I first read it and now I wonder how I didn’t realize because she always makes me laugh so much, and so very easily.

I’m utterly smitten with this take on the classic jock x nerd romance, can I just say this nsfw brand of flirting is exactly what I needed and the cutest shit I’ve ever seen? Lastly: some of you know that Ron is a fave of mine and his teasing, good-natured voice is a triumph here (which, again, I’m not surprised - have you guys read Peach’s scandalous Dron yet?? Holy shit, that fic 🙌) but anyhoo, let it be said that this fic has one of my favorite Rons ever, don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise. He’s great, and I need him in my life just like that.

As pretty much everything Peach writes, this 3.8k endearing gem went straight to my sacred collection of “comfort delights”. This is IMO a mandatory pit-stop whenever you have a shitty day or start feeling down. If only Peach knew how much her writing makes a difference in my life! Thank you for bringing sun and warmth to my rainy days, and for soothing my bruised heart whenever I’ve needed it. Feel better soon, my darling! 💜💜💜
