if you're taking doodle requests, I think it would be cool to see shifter!pebble interacting with the team! I think her design is so neat and the idea of incorporating the husky markings is such a fun and unique concept!!!

Hello ex-soldier here- just so you know, rule bending and breaking was quite common- you just get grounded to base with extra duties basically (dish washing, gourd posts, walk around with full heavy gear, maintenance work, etc.) As long as it's something disciplinary and not life risking for either you, your team, or innocents. All this to say, Pebble bending dress code or stuff like that? Not too unrealistic. Our kitchen staff once filled a tub with cold water and all sat in it in their underwear cause it was hot in the summer and they were bored - everyone was pretty much fine

But I don't mean Pebble not following the dress code when I say bending rules.

She's the kind of character to do things her own way. The kind to do something during a mission even after being told no and brush it off with a "Well it worked, didn't it?". She's very confident in her abilities....

That's why she's a little unrealistic. She doesn't always exactly break rules. She bends them and finds loopholes. She'd be quite frustrating to work with. She would need some very specific superiors to get away with all the bs she wants to do.

It's not entirely impossible. It's just that it needs very specific circumstances for everything to work out, and with some plot armor, it'll be fine. She'd probably be seen as a useful tool for some with her tendencies to not do things the traditional way. She doesn't need to like them, they just need to respect her and allow her to do things as she wants. Everyone will benefit from it 🤷‍♀️

OFC she doesn't always get her way. There are plenty of times when she has to step on her pride and do things by the book. She wouldn't exactly put her entire career on the line if it's not worth it lol

I have a question about Pebble!! Why did she join the military in the first place? And why did she stay? Does she find the work rewarding in some way or does she feel like she serves a higher purpose? Thanks!!

I don't think I've talked about it before, which is crazy cause this is literally the base I built Pebble's whole character on!

Well, it all starts in her childhood ✨️

Like actually it all starts with her fuckass dad. He wasn't abusive, but he made it very clear he didn't want a daughter.

So 18 year old Pebble, with a lot of anger and resentment for men, decides to outdo them by taking the manlies job ever... and what's more manly than the military? :)

She joins it out of purse spite. First few years she's a bit of a nightmare, but she eventually regulates her anger and pure hatred for men... she was supposed to work with them constantly after all. Some showed her they could be trusted. Some made her wanna be even more of a headache.

In truth, she's not a realistic character because with all the bs she gets herself into and all the rules she loves to bend to their limit I don't think the military would reaaaaaally like her that much. BUT this is fiction and in my mind, she's fucking smart and made just the right alliances and friends to give her passes when she'd do things her own way and embarrass men she shouldn't have.

She stayed because she never thought of herself as a good person in the first place, especially not now. She wants to do good! But she doesn't see herself as a good person. In her mid twenties her goal for the job changed from wanting to prove she's better than men to wanting to just help people so since she doesn't see herself as a good person she never bother to change her career to something more noble. She worked with what she already had. People already respected her and saw the potential with her fire and ambition.

She does find the job rewarding in some way. I mean, all she wants is to embarrass and surpass annoying men, and what's better than jumping their asses? (Even if I said her goal in her 30's is to protect people, she still gets a lot of satisfaction from surpassing men, lol)

She doesn't think she serves a higher purpose. At the end of the day, the military doesn't really align with her beliefs. She's not there to serve the country, or cause she likes the structure, but she stays cause she feels kinda stuck. She sees herself as somebody rough, and if anyone can do the dirty jobs, it'll be her.

What’s their favorite flower? Is there a certain reason? Where the plant’s native, the meaning of it (like some flowers mean bravery or love), maybe they saw them somewhere important, or simply just think they’re pretty. It’s cool if ya can’t think of something tho

My first thought was a poppy. I don't know why. It just felt right.

Now before I made this choice I had no idea what meanings and symbolism poppies held. They were plucked from my own childhood and it just felt right... doing some research made it feel perfect.

"Remembrance Day (also known as Poppy Day owing to the tradition of wearing a remembrance poppy) is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth member states since the end of the First World War to honour armed forces members who have died in the line of duty."

Perhaps she was always meant for the battlefield.

Love seeing more of Pebble! I'm a sucker for tattoos and people who look serious but are softies at heart. What kind of music do they like? And what do they do to unwind? If you've already answered these feel free to drop any other info!

These two questions work together so well actually!!

Gonna start with the second one first.

She loves music and in her free time she may stare at a wall and blast some music in her headphones. She can also play the guitar, prefers an electric guitar but while she's on base she has an acoustic one in her room to play occasionally. She could also sing but she's very shy about it. Besides this she's a big enoyer of just being lazy when she's got free time.

Now about what kind of music she likes... this is a question I'm always bad at. She'd probably answer with just rock, indie rock, rap, hiphop, alt stuff. She's a big fan of LOUD (ahem, why she prefers the electric guitar) music tho so throw in some elecro house techno? Rave music? (I'm very bad with genre names, sorry). (Extra info: she struggles with her anger, it just gets so intense sometimes, so instead of being violent she finds peace in blasting violent music in her ears and letting the anger burn like that.) But you also bet she LOVES cunty music. She loves women being nasty and dirty and will listen to some slutty songs or women talking shit about men no matter the genre. Also she's romanian so throw in some random romanian songs or manele when she misses home or is drinking.

You mentioned in your Roach and Ghost sketch that drawing traditionally hurts your wrist more. Im curious as to why in comparison to digital drawing? This is me genuinely asking QAQQ I hope this doesn't come off rude or smm.

BTW for Pebble, do they have a background as to how they got it? (Did they eat rocks as a kid??)

Hey! Dw, you're not coming off as rude. ^^ My hand hurts when I draw traditionally because I HAVE A GODDAMN DEATH GRIP ON MY FUCKASS PEN, unlike my apple pen. Idk why, maybe cause the apple pen is bigger. My hands are also shakey so maybe that's why I have a stronger grip on the pen when I draw traditionally, for more control or something. When I do digital art I use the stabilizer and I think that helps me be a bit more loose.

As to why "Pebble"

Price gave her that nickname. She worked with him for some time while he was still a lieutenant. They were probably chilling with other soldiers when one commented on her size (I don't think she's small, she's the size of farah but yk, people be annoying) and Price said something cringey like "If thrown right even a pebble will do the damage of a bullet." And ppl started calling her Pebble, and she wasn't really mad cause she was glad to have something that reminded her of Price once they parted ways.
