One week review of the Pebble Time 2: I really enjoy it!! An e ink watch with a fraction of the bells and whistles of a standard smartwatch is exactly what I needed. That isn't to say there's a dearth of apps for it. It's open source, and you can use either an android/ios app or browser to load apps onto the watch. You can set a total of 7(?) quick launch keybinds, but I only use 2. It has a small speaker and vibrates. And the battery life is incredible, about 50% a week. Meaning that I probably only need to charge this thing once or twice a month.
The health tracking options seem accurate, between steps, heart rate, and sleep durations. And all these options are configurable. Dont need to know your steps? ok it won't spend energy tracking it. And not in a cheeky oohhh we are hiding it but secretly tracking it to sell to data brokers! way. this thing is very privacy conscious if you want it to be. and there's apps for if you don't want to be lol.
there's a massive watch face gallery, with hundreds if not thousands of watch faces from simple to full dashboard of knowledge. I split the difference and really like this Minecraft Clock face that really turns with the time (it's nearly midnight, as the dark sky would indicate!) but also lists the date and battery and weather.
it has a fully rgb backlight when you need it, but keeps it off when you don't. it has apps for accessibility, such as watch faces that vibrate or audibly read the time at the press of a button. the screen is touchscreen but is rarely used by apps, most seem to favor the satisfying press of a button.
Stand out highlight app: Flinch by J. Lambert. It has options to set reminders at random times through the day. I have it configured to say "On task?" between 3 and 8 times a day, during my waking hours, randomly. It'll gently vibrate and ask if I'm on task. You can set it for water reminders, posture checks, and more. Because it's random, you don't get used to it reminding you at the same time every day.
Currently $225, I think, before the leather watch band, which I sprung for.
