The Pedisedate is a medical Game Boy Color device designed to make children be more comfortable in the very stressful scenario that is being in an operating room and getting knocked out for surgery. The child is given the Game Boy with headphones and plays it for a bit as the doctors get ready, and then when it's time they put the mask down so they can administer nitrous oxide. I think it's amazing that these doctors made this to improve children's lives, in addition to being a really cool part of video game history.

Reading more about the pedisedate and it sounds like calling it a "game boy peripheral" is a bit of an overstatement. It had built in headphones so that the patient could listen to music while being sedated and it was commonly used in tandem with a game boy because that's a relatively cheap way to provide more distraction than say, a music CD or video. But like as far as I can tell you could just plug it into anything with a headphone jack.
