Templario pop and drop on Pegasso
Arena Puebla Report! 09/10/2018
Sangre Azteca, Malayo & King Jaguar vs. Rey Samuray, Pegasso & Lestat
Who’s who?
Sangre Azteca in yellow/black, Malayo in all black an King in red.
Rey Samuray in blue with a white ponytail, Pegasso in black/red and Lestat in all black.
How’s the match?
Fine, this is about what you’d expect from these 6 guys. Hard to get too invested when none of these guys are close to getting gold or a big mask match. They fight for no real story reason. Just good guys fighting bad guys because we need to film Puebla. It’s nothing against these guys, but unless they get pushed up the card... it’s hard to really be invested in any of them.
Flyer, Esfinge, & Triton vs. Mascara Ano 2000, Universo 2000 Jr. & Kawato San
Who’s who?
Flyer in black, Esfinge in purple and Triton in white.
Mascara Ano 2000 in black maskless, Universo 2000 Jr. in black with mask and Kawato San with red paints.
How’s the match?
Good, this is a bit less than I’m used to seeing from Triton and Esfinge. Flyer looked like he was hurt for a second, but the kicking down from the rudos made it seem not to be a serious issue. He got back in the ring and worked the 3rd round, so I assume it was something small. It’s nice to see Ano/Universo team together and that was the best part for me personally, but didn’t save the match from being pretty on par.
Angel de Oro, Niebla Roja & Volcano vs. Terrible, Shocker & Felino
Who’s who?
Oro in gold/silver, Roja in red and Volcano in red and also masked.
Terrible in black with facial hair, Shocker with blonde hair and Felino in orange/black pants.
How’s the match?
Good, not as exciting as last week. Volcano was still plenty of fun, but he was about it. I’m a fan of Felino, but can’t really stand Shocker. Terrible is nice to see here, but it feels like a weak match to return on. Terrible having been injured for the last few weeks, I think about 2 or 3 months. Roja/Oro can be great as can Terrible, but sometimes they can feel a little scripted. Terrible’s staredown is fun, but came up like 3-4 times in this match. Next week he needs to staredown the ref, a fan and a concession guy too. Most fun match of the night for me, but still not enough to get a very good from me.
Atlantis, Ultimo Guerrero & Gran Guerrero vs. Diamante Azul, Rush & Barbaro Cavernario
Who’s who?
Atlantis in his white mask, Ultimo maskless and Gran in green/black mask.
Azul in blue, Rush in black and Barbaro in his leopard print singlet.
How’s the match?
Good, but a little too brief for me. I like it when CMLL do these odd pairing matches. It was fun to see Azul/Atlantis have to team with rudos. Atlantis teaming with Ultimo, like back when they were stablemates around a decade ago was also some nostalgic feel good. I also have to make note of the fact that this didn’t end with DQ, but instead had a conclusive finish. Good on CMLL and Rush for not having to end the match in an Ultimo dick kick. Overall Puebla was pretty tame, one of the weaker shows this year. I doubt anything here will be in the top 5 of the week, but with Anniversary happening... it wasn’t going to be likely anyways.
