Vic and Peggy Kellner, I wish I could have had what they had... No surprise some people thought they were dating

Some super cool color candids of Victor from the archives of photographer Peter Borsari!!
It’s so funny to me to finally get a proper look at his “yellow hair”. There were obviously taken when, or shortly after, he played Shakespeare’s white haired Sir John Falstaff again on stage. When he played the role in 1972 and 1974 he shaved his head for it and got all of his hair bleached weekly. The photos have no date or other description what event this was and I can’t really tell either which year of the two it is.
The ladies in the first photo next to Vic are his mother Myrtle Belle Buono on the left and on the right his best friend (sometimes, according to him, girlfriend) costume and set designer Peggy Kellner. Victor’s nephew Wayne told me Myrtle used to always crochet hats for Victor and he’d show them off at the Tonight Show, so, I guess that’s definitely one of them he wears there. Who knows why! lol
there’s currently a costume sketch for “Richard II” for 390 bucks on ebay made by Peggy Kellner, who was Victor’s best friend and an amazing costume and set designer. She worked at The Old Globe in San Diego for 23 years.
Btw, this is a painting Peggy Kellner (who was Victor’s closest female friend and fucking multi-talented) made of Victor as Falstaff! The painting still hangs in the home of Victor’s younger brother David.
At the bottom left you see an Old Globe postcard that had 24-year-old Vic as Falstaff in “Henry IV, Part 2″ in 1962 on it. I think she painted him also around that time going by the costume.
Love this find! Peggy Kellner, one of Victor’s closest friends, helping him with his costume for a 1960 production of Hamlet.
Here’s the excerpt on the Kellner House from the haunted places directory on Google Books!
omggg wild
Thank you so much!! :D
