Coffee date with the worstie
Okay what is with the video. Please tell me. Sincerely.
Okay but which one is the question?
For real tho I just like to slap stuff into my queue a whole bunch and then see how long it takes for someone to either notice or ask me if I'm okay.
I find it incredibly funny for people to make associations with me and specific posts
I blame the autism tbh but it's the same vibe as me leaving Minecraft open for 48 hours just to see who all in my friends list notices and is like "hey what the fuck is wrong with you ❤️"
pekasairroc replied to your post “ZR be like “Okay, yes, we took two of the most POPULAR and PROMINENT...”
Wait what happened
You can get the full story on the blog, but the tldr is that going forward, you can only participate in/listen to the virtual races if you upgrade to a ‘VIP’ membership, which is $90 annually. This will not include a race pack, it’s literally just access to the races, and there are no other options to access the races.
People were already steamed about THAT, but today they threw up an announcement on Youtube that the next virtual race (in 2021) will be hosted by Jack and Eugene. So you know, that feels like it’s been specifically done to manipulate people who were less-than-pleased by all the crap about the VIP membership into paying anyways, otherwise we miss out on the new Jack and Eugene content.
Like, the timing is suss. We’re basically told ‘no new Jack and Eugene ever again’ for 5 years and then as soon as everyone’s pissed they go ‘look at the shiny!’
@selki @pekasairroc @mosaicfeud He was cool with it! I’ll figure out a time to reschedule soon. Based on how I feel now that I’m up from a nap, I think I might be sicker than I thought I was. :(
1, 17, 23, 29!
1. what's your favourite kitchen appliance?
Toaster oven, hands down. I honestly don’t use many appliances. The toaster oven does so many things and I love it so much. My little mini oven.
17. are you a member of any clubs or associations?
Unsurprisingly, I am the member of multiple birding associations.
23. what's the coolest place you've visited?
I honestly think it’s Alaska. It’s been nearly 20 years, but we did this cool trip to a dog sled camp and it left quite an impression on me. I think it was on or near a glacier?!
Second place is the Roman Colosseum. I mean. Come on.
29. do you have houseplants and how are you at keeping them alive?
None! I have never been drawn to raising plants and I don’t think I’d be good at keeping them alive. Who knows, though?
1, 2, and 9 then <3
YAY <3
1. caveat that I waffled a bit on how exactly to count them (manga volumes don’t feel like one book each, do I lump them into one? Do I count DNFs after 200+ pages when I’m counting plenty of books that are shorter than that as whole books?) Books I’d read before and books I read for work both count, but I did *not* double-count the books I reread 2-3 times for work. So, the number I have rn is 50! books this year. Counting DNFs that I got through a big swath of, separating manga volumes, and double-counting work rereads would put it in the 70s-80s. This blows my last several years of reading out of the water and I’m really really pleased.
2. Quite a few, including several for the first time since childhood. My final reading project of the year is the Prydain Chronicles (Lloyd Alexander), which are holding up beautifully. Roy scored the whole series in paperback from the library sale for like $1.50 about a month ago and I’m on the last book now.
Also reread a fave from adulthood, The Goblin Emperor (Katherine Addison). I read this one in 2019 and then read every book she wrote after that, and she always blows me away with the intricacy of her world creation and how seamlessly she seems to show it to the reader bit by bit. I chose to go back to it now because in early 2024 I read Addison-as-Sarah-Monette’s first two books ever and they were just like…obviously she was the same talented person but there’s a huge gap between those first books and her recent masterpieces. And that was so inspiring to discover, because Goblin Emperor def made me despair in 2019 because of how good and well crafted it was, and now I know she grew and built toward that and didn’t just nail it on the first or second try. I appreciated it all the more this time!
9. Genre wise I was mostly in my comfort zones (fantasy, memoir, theater/music related stuff, classic bs for work) but I did learn some new things! I read a poetry volume, View with a grain of sand (Wisława Szymborska, tr. Barańczak/Cavanagh) on advice from a former professor after I admitted to her I don’t feel like I get poetry. I think I’m ready to stop saying shit like that, at least!
Also a medium-not-genre thing—I learned I am MUCH more fast and happy reading manga as physical volumes than on the computer. My library system has a pretty big selection because of the teens, so uhh if anyone wants to hit me with titles to check out…
Thanks for the ask!!
ZR Fandom? Same hat?
Same hat! I've even seen you in ZR posts notes sometimes. 🤣 I've been obsessed with ZR for years, though I don't run as much as I used to. (I really need to get back into it.)
Below are my two main contributions to the fandom that made the rounds 7 years ago.
When Five found the camera she wasn’t quite sure what to take pictures of. “Just take pictures of whatever you think is important Five,” Sa
I love Zombies, Run! and this meme too much so this was inevitable.
Re: post
How are things? :D
Oh you know ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Jk, jk, I’m doing pretty okay. Possibly because I’m ignoring some of the things I have to do, but I’m making steady progress on my reading list at least!
