          he heard her footsteps, but kept his head down, eyes trained on the bolt in his hand that he was tweaking and fixing. had he not made it clear by moving his own camp far enough away from everyone else that he did not want to be bothered? he did not want to hear what she had to say about what happened with her little girl, he did not need her soft words telling him that it wasn’t his fault and that she was grateful that he tried. ---- becaiuse she was wrong. he could have brought her home but he didn’t.
