Related to the previous post, my specific reason for ranting about dog owners who don’t respect boundaries was today was my first physical therapy appointment. After I walk into the room, the dog is sitting there on the floor, she asks if I’m okay with dogs. I tell her I’m afraid of dogs so she takes him out of the room.
1. It is gross and unprofessional to have dogs in a MEDICAL FACILITY
2. Fortunately my fear of dogs isn’t severe, but that easily could have given me a panic attack to just suddenly be confronted by a large dog in a place where I’m already feeling stressed and vulnerable.
Then at the end of the appointment as I’m checking out at the front desk the dog just comes running through the waiting room, sniffing me and all my stuff and basically just getting really in my personal space. Like i said in my last post, I know most people love dogs but it’s rude and completely unprofessional to assume! And especially after I told her about my fear, she should have kept the dog away from me.
In other news, the actual therapy seems like it might help so I’m going to stick with this therapist for now, despite this whole dog thing. I just really hope she remembers so I don’t have to specifically request her to move the dog every week. But in a place where I’m stripping naked so a therapist can massage my most vulnerable body parts, I cannot deal with the added stress of looking over my shoulder to see if the dog is near me.
