Black Friday Alternative #2: Pen Morrison: Art
This artist will serve you music nerds well. Her name is Pen Morrison and she is not only a fantastic sculpture, but she is also my aunt. She is not local to central Illinois. Believe me when I say the shipping is worth it. All of her work are made of found objects in her neighborhood. If there is a house being "remodeled" in her neighborhood, you can bet you will find her dumpster diving or talking to the contractor about going in and grabbing a few pieces of lapboard. She has a wide range of pieces. Some are very small and feature one word like "Sing" with a hymnal cover and her big pieces (the show-stoppers) include guitars of famous artists made of metal wood, found wire, and a bits of paint . For those on a tighter budget, she has prints of her current guitar collection. She can work on commission, but you better call her now if you want your piece before the holidays. PS: I did an art fair with this woman and I would like to state that her pieces are built to last. There was a freak rain storm that caused her tent to collapse and the pieces all came out like nothing happened. She is good at what she does.
