At home: This sunbathing owlet is the essence of what bird life at Pench forest is. Safe, providing and comfortable, with plentiful resources, this is a great haven for smaller birds with very few predators such as snakes or eagles. This shot was captured in mid december, 2018, when the fogs were unveiling a bright and gentle sun, painting the entire forest a golden-orange tint, making earth, trees and leaves, both dead and alive, glow almost as if it was all happening on that mild sun's very surface, the only reminder to any other reality being the bone-rusting chill and wintery breezes of central India. Pench has become somewhere I would definitely revisit. ~A.J. . Legendary Pokemon: It is quite rare spot a Crested Eagle in the wild as they seldom nest lower or close to human dwellings and it is even rarer to find a juvenile Crested Eagle this way. It was late, one wintery morning,around 10 A.M. and the fogs were still reluctant to desert the damp earth as the sun made half-hearted attempts to penetrate it, when we found this kid alone. He was probably out spreading his wings, learning to fly , barely 6 months old. We were tracking striped cats along the muddy trails, seeking tracks of any four footed pedestrian, who might've had travelled down our paths before us. It was then that this guy gave us a few good minutes' worth of shots and flies over our heads, just within the reach of our hands, had we dared to stretch them, with a wingspan of about 5 feet.
