Watching "Father Brown" 2013 version every night gives me comfort.

"Broken Base: Series 10 saw the replacement of three cast members: Sorcha Cusack (Mrs. McCarthy), Emer Kenny (Bunty) and Jack Deam (Inspector Mallory), were respectively succeeded by Claudie Blakley (Mrs. Devine), Ruby Ray-Martinwood (Brenda Palmer) and the returning Tom Chambers as the newly-promoted Chief Inspector Sullivan. Some were charmed by the new characters and delighted at the return of Sullivan. (Mallory had proven quite a divisive character amongst fans.) Others were irritated at the loss of three of the series mainstays all at once, and did not take to the new cast. Some even view Sullivan's re-appearance as a cheap attempt to lessen the blow. And a fair number of viewers regard the romance between Sullivan and Mrs. Devine as forced, unbelievable, and distressingly chemistry-free".

Father Brown and Lucia Galloway Headcanons

NOT Lucia from 5x05: The Hand of Lucia. I’m talking about Lucia from 1x08: The Face of Death. Just so we’re clear.

- Father Brown invites Lucia to stop by st mary’s anytime, like he always does

- he’s pleasantly surprised when she does, because she’s still living on her own for the time being and the house is huge and she doesn’t want to be alone

- he brings her back to the presbytery for a cup of tea and a chat about how she’s been doing

- she starts coming by regularly because she finds it’s easier to talk to him about most things and he’s really her only friend now

- Mrs. McCarthy doesn’t like Lucia at first (she believes her to be “shameless” and disapproves of her love for jazz), but she warms up to her when she offers to help her with her sewing

- when Mrs. McCarthy finds out about Lucia’s reading struggles, she takes it upon herself to help her improve

- Lucia starts coming by nearly every day, often going to the presbytery instead of her classes because she learns more with them than she ever did with her tutors

- she sometimes brings her record player and her and the father listen to jazz. Mrs. McCarthy doesn’t like it at first, but she eventually learns to tolerate it

- she, of course, meets Lady Felicia, who is very impressed with her designs and even offers to buy some of them

- one day she comes by and is surprised to see Bunty sitting at the table instead of Felicia. the others explain that Felicia has moved to Rhodesia, and Lucia is disappointed she didn’t get to say goodbye

- Bunty then tells Lucia that her aunt spoke highly of her designing talents and asks her to make something for her, to which Lucia agrees

- (leading to a very,,,tense private fitting perhaps? 👀 👀)

- Bunty and Lucia becoming good friends (or maybe more 👀) and getting into trouble together

- Lucia sometimes brings mr gillespie with her and Bunty absolutely adores him

- when she isn’t busy with mrs. McCarthy’s lessons, she listens to the gang’s stories about the various cases they’ve solved. it becomes the highlight of her day since she’s lonely and not much happens at her house anymore
