list of pentagon moments that are absurd and don't sound real but that are indeed:

1. kino took pics of shinwon in just his underwear like a proper photoshoot at the dorms and when pentagon hosted a little bazaar among themselves hongseok paid 70.000won to get his hands on that disposable camera. he still owns the pictures

2. them playing a zombie game (completely naked, at that) in the pool deciding they'd be biting each other and whoever was to scream would lose... sounds fake but it happened

3. them playing a game blindfolded, having to guess which member it was - shinwon guessed who hui was just by sticking his fingers up hui's nostrils

4. shinwon convincing hui to buy a box that had nothing but the balenciaga logo on it, telling him that it'd be filled with great, valuable goods. hui paid 50.000won for him to end up finding out it was only filled with paper, (and a piece of paper with some random ass prediction about how hui would have a great year) useless to say hui was NOT happy and side-eyed shinwon for the entire live

5. another one: when they sent wooseok and kino downstairs to get food and then the others were like 'you know what would be fun? let's spank each other and if the person getting spanked doesn't react, they have to switch places.' so the youngest ones got back to the hyungs spanking the shit out of each other. (thank you user ggunight)

6. shinwon changing his ucube nickname for fun and accidentally getting it stolen by someone who didn't want to give it back. he begged for it to be given back before moderators woke up. changed it to pentag0n_신원 (pentag0n_shinwon) while waiting and still... nothing. after two hours of trying he went to sleep and the following day he titled his live 'shinw0n say s0mething'

7. when shinwon asked unis to boo at them @ isac if they made mistakes. unis started booing so much that fans of other groups were wondering what the hell was wrong with ptg's fandom...... also pentagon spent 90% of their time doing everything other than focusing. let's not forget when they were fooling around jinho's shoe accidentally hit a group's member and he decided to buy them sweets to make up for it lmao

8. yanan literally implying that marriage is a trap on weibo (and he is absolutely right)

9. hui saying he saves demos with keyboard smashes a lot of the time to the point where many songs get lost or forgotten...... praying for the bangers that will never see the light

10. a few months ago cube signed a deal with tipco, importing juice from thailand. shinwon started drinking their orange juice like crazy to the point the company emptied their stocks to send him a wall of juice boxes. it didn't end there though..... my boy started reviewing their juice flavors and that entire free promotion scored pentagon a deal with the company, that decided to make them their brand ambassadors lmaooo

11. changgu was in the practice room doing some aerobic exercises he'd never done before and got injured, and because yanan didn't know how to speak korean well when he first got to south korea, he hurriedly rushed to shinwon and told him that changgu was dead and shinwon was like WHAT??????? jwkdhwkdjks

12. hui and shinwon tried communicating with a fan subbing their livestream in real time and completely lost it when the fan replied as if they'd just discovered the peak of technology lmaoooo

13. yanan pranking wooseok by turning off the boiler four times, the two of them having a conversation about the degrees of the water and wooseok consequently locking yanan on the balcony with his underwear only to get back at him

14. shinwon said when unis meet him they can greet each other, like, in a code. universe can say 'skrrrt' very quietly and he'll reply with 'skrrrt skrrrt' 😭

I don’t think I’ve ever actually listened to a ptg song but I listened to the game since you insisted lol and woooww! it’s not what I expected at all I loved it! The harmonies, the bass line, all of it was so interesting and fun! But of course I knew that you had great taste :)

[crowd cheers] anon you made me so happy!!! i am glad my posts about it convinced you because honestly it is such a great song. i love that they introduced a mixture of genres in one song (rock, pop and opera) and made it work perfectly.

i have to agree, the bass in it is so sexy! sonically it sounds so good, like everything's just in the right place. i rarely ever hear such a carefully produced and executed song in kpop. no surprise though, they do a lot of things that aren't usual or already done in kpop and i heeeavily vibe with that. hearing that you got wowed too seriously makes me so glad!

2. How long have you been a fan of Pentagon?

i have been a universe since debut! i'd seen teasers before but it was on their actual debut day that i paid attention. my friend (who was then a predebut stan) posted the link to the mv and i checked it out! fun backstory is that we're friends and both universes still, and i spent like two months going 'like a gorilla like a gorilla YOU GOT GOT ME LIKE A GORILLA LIKE A GORILLA', i think my friends hated me for it <3

9. What’s your favorite Pentagon b-side?

it's hard to pick, because i end up getting hooked on a different bside as the releases come. in the past i would've chosen either 'lucky' or 'lukewarm' but i would say 'alien' is one of my top favorites so far.

overall i really enjoy the vibes of the song and the nice turn in the beat with wooseok's verse. i like the way they've chosen to pronounce lines in that specific song and the lyrics are also so relatable so that's a big plus. i don't even know how to explain it, but it makes me really happy. when shinwon goes "HAVE A GOOD NICE DAY!!!!" i have no choice but to have a good nice day!

20. What type of concept would you like to see from Pentagon in the future?

band pentagon band pentagon band pentagon. there are probably more concepts i would like to see but until i get that one, my mind will be pentagon band concept only.

not only do i think they're fit for it since they play a variety of instruments, but i feel like they're the k-pop group who's able to do this, you know? this is something they've been hinting since debut and did even more in the past two years by experimenting with covers and rearrangements. i think that they're basically paving the way for it. having seen how they practice improvising a band practice on their own, i know they'd love it. and i am aware i don't know every single kpop group ever, but what i do know is that ptg have a great knowledge of music and of what suits them. they've figured out by now that songs with a rock influence to them could be their identity, and honestly i hope we get more of that. they're an experimental group so i don't expect them to stick with it but if they gave us more of it, i would eat it up. and it's incredible if you think of it because there are many more sounds and concepts you could tie to them. they're melancholic, happy and sexy at the same time, and more. they could go rock and then go ballad, first r&b and then pop. i am rambling rn but yeah, it's hard to tie them to one identity... ANYWAYS, band pentagon. make it happen. i wanna see 2won unleash those vocals.

13. Do you have an unpopular opinion about Pentagon? What is it?

i honestly don't know which one to pick and i feel like a lot of my opinions have also become a common agreement in the fandom, i would love to go into the details about each one but i'll pick one! if we're talking about opinions we stand by and that we wish non fans agreed with, i would say pentagon have one of the best vocal lines in the entirety of kpop and i would say possibly the best one in their generation. not only talking about the vocals themselves, but a lot of factors and other things as well.

like, the dynamics of their vocal line, the versatility, the presence of unique vocal colors, the evenness of it all. i don't even know if that makes sense but having such a variety of talented and flexible vocalists... i find that they're so unique, there's no vocal line like that. lost count of the amount of times i got surprised by their abilities or the times they covered for one another or completely rearranged a song and still made it feel so full and well prepared. over time i got a lot of friends saying 'wow, i didn't know ptg had such a vocal line', and i feel like a lot of people still aren't aware, which is a shame.

maybe people are mainly familiar with jinho and hui but all vocalists in ptg are capable of doing great things and providing good performances. especially live, they're so amazing. hearing 'till' live was so breathtaking, it wasn't even the entire vocal line, but it still showcased how strong they are vocally wise. also the way they interpret songs and sustain notes, i love love love it.

20. What type of concept would you like to see from Pentagon in the future?

all my friends probably know because i'm so annoying about it but i need them to pull a band concept. i mean, seeing tracks of theirs with rock influences to them, seeing their self-rearranged songs and covers with the use of a live band and knowing that the members can play a bunch of different instruments... please, i need to see it happen. also would like to see something like, fairy and almost dreamy-like, but i can't think of the specific term for it now!

21. What type of variety shows would you like to see Pentagon on?

i want to see them on amazing saturday, maybe that's me being such a uniwol 😭 i also would like to see them on more music related and music based shows. i really like seeing the process behind the making of their content, and i enjoyed that show where hui broke down the lyrics of naughty boy, but cube hasn't given us much of that type of content until now and it's a shame.

i mean, pentagon are fully self produced and a lot of their stuff comes directly from them, so i wish cube gave more room to that. the boys talk about their music and concepts a lot, but i wish they had a platform that helped them get that info to the public. every time someone in the industry finds out about their music being self composed they get so surprised and they definitely have had that title by now, but i want more for them. not even trying to sound superficial or something, i just wish for their passion and their dedication to get to a wider audience because they deserve it. i think they'd also be funny on 'after mom falls asleep' but i don't know if they still film it... they'd be hilarious though. would love to see them have another podcast on dive studios, too! hope i am not forgetting any show!

jinho! first of all, i really miss that little man.

feel like there is so much to say about him as a vocalist. it's so hard to even get into it because whatever i say may sound cliché or repetitive but... he's seriously a powerhouse, such an outstanding vocalist and performer. there's nothing he can't do with his voice.

i've come across a variety of different vocalists over time but he's definitely one of the few ones that stood out to me, that i've decided to stick with and one of the most unique and worth listening to. oop, does that sound mean? i'm not sure, but i just don't think there are many who are able to keep up with him and get to that level, ESPECIALLY in the generation ptg are in.

he has an incredible vocal range, every time i think i figured out what extent he can go to, he surprises me with much more. not only that, but there's some sort of magic in his voice... obviously vocal technique is necessary for healthy singing and it's nice to the ears but the moment a singer moves something within you, that's when you know they're great and he does that every single time. no matter the mood of the song. he can belt, he can sustain, he has pretty falsettos, he has so much control, even over his low register. he can nail any genre, any metric, any feeling, anything he is presented with or anything he chooses to cover. don't think that's a very easy feat either, is it?

another thing i really like about his voice is when he doesn't necessarily belt out high notes but stays in a comfortable range, i think that's when the real beauty of it comes out. you can tell there's lots of training and practice there and i can't help but feel so proud like my ego just flies off the roof when i think of how he was and is a vocal coach... like he trains aspiring vocalists. cube trust him with teaching their trainees how to sing! he is so cool 😭

honestly? i think that after all he is still severely underappreciated for someone who holds all that talent... i never see him being mentioned in articles dedicated to the best singers in k-pop which is a shame. i feel like people only know a couple of his most popular covers and that's it, but there are many hidden gems. like, there are some covers of magazine ho that i prefer a lot more than the ones that went viral. slightly off topic but i hardly ever see hui or shinee too, which is a shame considering they are much better than the ones i usually see and they offer a set of timbres and ranges that are rare and pleasant to listen to.

anywaaaays, i like jinho's voice loads. and he inspires me! i like looking at his movements when he sings, feel like there's so much learn! i also remember him talking about his teaching method during a live, that was interesting. hopefully when he comes back he gets to shine with better opportunities and get praised! i want him on masked singer again, the panelists literally loved him

(just figured i'd send this as an ask since it got a bit long for a reply) while i don't know if i'd consider myself a uni, i have liked ptg since debut! i've always admired their style, especially hui and jinho's artistry and vocal colors. they've always been so cohesive and know just how to play off each other's strengths as a group, and i feel like they always sound very much like themselves even when they change their sound up, which is impressive imo. they're also a group that has provided a lot of comfort songs for me, whether they're happy or sad and there's just something about all of that that makes me always wanna root for them. i think the word i'd use for them overall is admirable, and i'm always hoping the best for them ^^

i can't help but agree with everything you said, and the nicest part is that they are so unapologetically themselves that it is very easy to perceive it whether you're super invested in them or just a casual listener. the special thing about them is that they're so genuine, they do know their individual strengths and always use them to the team's advantage, they always look out for one another and find a home in their own group and that itself is so palpable, right? they're super distinctive and so not afraid of experimenting, i love love love it

im so glad that you found songs of theirs comforting, that is definitely a relatable point! i do also get the feeling that a lot of their tracks are timely or somehow come out at a time where it's most needed. same goes for their words. ahhhh hearing your thoughts makes me seriously so happy 💙 thank you so much for sharing them with me

oooh this is hard because if you think of it, ptg have a lot of songs that can boost and lighten your mood in no time 🥺 in general i always watch spring snow stages or i listen to alien, but mostly the first one!

💃 just do it yo!! - have you ever done something out of your comfort zone and you’re glad you did?

i think i did a few things which i never thought i would but now i can't pinpoint/remember all of them 😭 the biggest one i can think of, though, is me working a job that required me to be around people in 2019! that was such a scary step but i am glad i did it because it helped tons with my fear of being perceived and everything

the first one that comes to my mind immediately is changgu's birthday live where they just started yelling and running around, i think i will never get over how happy he looked and it reminds me of how he said that before joining pentagon, during the training periods, his birthdays had been very lonely so i can only imagine how happy he must be that he gets such nice celebrations every year 🥺🥺

another one is when during humph era we couldn't give them a first win even though we were this close to and they walked out after the music show airing to hang out with unis, it was such an intimate moment.. just ptg hanging out with unis, taking pictures, and then hyunggu also asking the people attending that improvised mini fan meeting to please share some videos so overseas and international fans knew that pentagon love us and are grateful to us regardless of everything

also! can't believe i almost forgot about this!! when i saw and met them in person 🥺 if i started talking about that day there'd be no end to this but it was such a happy and inspiring day that it feels out of the ordinary still, if i think about how my days generally go. it felt like a culmination of so much hoping, hard work and support. forever grateful that i could be part of such a joyous experience and big step in their career 💙 ik im probably missing many other favorite moments rn but this should be enough hdje thanks rae my beloved for sending this ask!
