Hey Em and Em
The photograph of the werther original on ( what i’m guessing is a gravestone) reminds me of the trip we took to Poland with the college. It was the wednesday you went to visit your friends me, James, Clarebeau, Sarah, Clair, Geoff and Richie went to a Jewish graveyard. I’m not sure if you know about the tradition of Jewish people putting stones on graves, so I shall tell you...
When Jewish people visit graves they place stones on the top of the headstone everytime they visit. They do this because it shows other people that the person whose grave it is, is loved. So the more stones on the grave the more popular the person is. They say that they use stones because they believe stones are symbolic of memory. While some people put flowers on graves, Jewish people put stones because they last like our memories, flowers wilt like the body.
So now you know that! On the next page is a photo I took in the graveyard. This is the photograph yours reminded me of.
Another image of yours that reminds me of my childhood is the photograph of the ballet shoes. Although it doesn’t remind me of a specific memory it does remind me of the shoes I used to wear. They are identical to the ones in your photograph. I think I still have them somewhere, hold on!....
Found them!
Thanks for reminding me of all those lovely memories
Love you
