The Lake Pepin Monster, also known as Pepie, is a lake monster that allegedly lives in Lake Pepin, in Lake City, MN. Pepie was spotted as early as the 19th century, and sightings continued into recent years.

In 2014, a Lake City businessman named Larry Nielman offered a $50,000 reward for “undisputable evidence that proves the existence of the real live creature living in Lake Pepin.”

In 2008, a business man by the name of Larry Nielson offered a reward of $50,000 for evidence that Pepie, the Lake Pepin Monster, is real. Lake Pepin, located in Minnesota, is the widest part of the Mississippi River. On Nielson’s website, he claims that the reward will be given to anyone that can provide “samples of skin or fins that can be studied for a DNA analysis” or a legitimate photograph of the monster. His website also says that hunters are forbidden from harming the lake monster.

This photo was taken in 1987 and was published in a newspaper in Durand, Wisconsin. It supposedly shows Pepie, the Lake Pepin Monster. It bears a striking resemblance to the Nessie hoax Surgeon’s Photograph.
