TL;DR Version: The Christmas Tree Frappuccino from @Starbucks is basically a Peppermint Mocha Frappuccino in a fancy hat. If you were gonna get a Peppermint Mocha Frappuccino anyway, go ahead and spend the extra 20 cents, otherwise don’t worry about this one. Full Review: Starbucks’ latest seasonal concoction is the Christmas Tree Frappuccino, available today through Monday, December 11th. Per the Starbucks app, “Delicious mocha and peppermint are blended with milk and ice, topped with a festive tree made of matcha infused whipped cream, a caramel drizzle and candied cranberries finished off with a strawberry tree ‘topper.’” Reading between the lines, the drink itself is just an ordinary Peppermint Mocha Frappuccino. The “matcha infused whipped cream” is a green tea flavored whipped cream that really doesn’t taste like much of anything on its own. The flavor in the “tree” comes almost entirely from the caramel drizzle and the candied cranberries, which are actually pretty good together with the nearly flavorless whipped cream serving as an ideal vehicle for them. The problem is that you spend 90% of your drink just getting the normal Peppermint Mocha Frappuccino. Then even when you get to the whipped cream “tree,” only the outer edge of it tastes like anything special.
