With the refreshing flavor of peppermint, give your favorite Oreo balls a wintery twist. These Peppermint Oreo Balls are ideal for holiday gatherings or whenever you crave a tasty treat.
Ingredients: 1 package of Oreo cookies about 36 cookies. 1 package 8 oz cream cheese, softened. 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract. 12 oz white chocolate, melted. Crushed candy canes or peppermint candies, for topping.
Instructions: Put the Oreo cookies in a food processor and pulse them a few times to make them very small. Crush the Oreo cookies and mix them with softened cream cheese and peppermint extract in a bowl. Blend everything together. Form the mixture into small balls that are about 1 inch across using your hands. Put the balls on a baking sheet that has parchment paper on it. This will make the Oreo balls more firm. Put the baking sheet in the freezer for 15 to 20 minutes. While the Oreo balls are in the freezer, melt the white chocolate in a bowl that can go in the microwave. Do this in 30-second increments, stirring each time, until the chocolate is smooth and melted. Spread the melted white chocolate out evenly on a plate and dip each chilled Oreo ball into it. Allow any extra chocolate to fall to the ground. Cover the Oreo balls again and put them back on the baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Before the chocolate sets, sprinkle crushed candy canes or peppermint candies on top of each chocolate-covered Oreo ball right away. To let the chocolate set, put the Oreo balls back in the freezer or fridge for 10 to 15 minutes. The Peppermint Oreo Balls are ready to eat once the chocolate has set. Keep them in the fridge in a container that won't let air in.
