“I wonder if a general with a round belly could even teach me to brush a horse,” Louis scoffed, turning to face the foreigner.
"Your father arranged for you to learn from a general, you should be grateful.”
“I am grateful,” he glared at the man who spoke without knowing an ounce about him, “But I hate war. There is nothing that can not be solved by those who seek peace.”
The man offered a tired smile, “The age of war passed when you were a child, people fought and gave their lives, shed blood for ones like you to live comfortably in their houses of stones and bricks. What do you know of war?”
“What do you know of war, metic?” Louis narrowed his eyes.
The foreign man offered drachma for his fruits and thanked the stall owner before deeming Louis with a reply, “May your apprenticeship be fruitful with your tardy general, eirineftís.”
