"Fuck," he said quietly, "When is it going to be my turn?"

Arthur raised a brow, and slowly, very slowly, shook his head.

"Maybe when you take your head out of your arse," he said, standing up just as Perceval returned to the table with two beers.

Okay but like... How long has Arthur known? I'm pretty sure that this is the first point that anyone alludes to Perce being interested in Gwaine (not that Gwaine realises it at that point) and like I doubt Perceval is particularly forthcoming or easy to read so what was it that let Arthur know? Was it how Perce acted when Gwaine acted out with Merlin? Because we know from Plenty of Socks that he's more bemused by that than anything else?? I can't see Perceval randomly bringing it up either??

Lance glanced at Leon. Leon glanced at Perceval. Perceval glanced at Lance. Perceval and Leon glanced at Lance.

True friendship is looking at each other until two of you gang up on the other to force them to deal with the situation

 "Jesus, Perce! Stop mothering me! I said I was all right --"

Can we talk about this moment? I'm gonna talk about this moment.

I love Merlin and Perceval's relationship. I love that Perce is so big and Merlin is so (relatively) small. I love that in Plenty of Socks Perce isn't even vaguely jealous when Gwaine flirts with Merlin because he knows he has nothing to worry about.

Most of all, I love what this exchange implies. Because that means that Perce hadn't just checked in on Merlin once. It had probably taken a good twenty minutes and many many promises that he'd call if he needed anything at all to get Perceval to leave the room. Then the first couple of times Perce probably returned because he "forgot" something and after another half an hour or so (though to Merlin it probably felt like two seconds), he'd come back to say that he needed to check Merlin was alright because he did hit his head pretty hard and oh look Perce just so happens to have the biscuits Merlin likes. Merlin probably got in the shower not long after Perceval left like well I'm not gonna have long best be quick and then there's another knock on the door and really there's no excuse Perceval can use this time to be good enough so Merlin is at the end of his rope

But then it isn't Perceval. It's Arthur.

No. The hard part was ignoring Perceval's knowing smirk every time he reached for Merlin.

Arthur in character: *says something to Merlin with a distinctly real sexual undertone*

Perce: 😏😏😏👀👀👀😏😏😏🍑🍆🍆😏👀

Perceval stood up, his expression odd and distant, the way it was odd and distant when Perceval knew that something had happened, but that he wasn't going to ask because it wasn't the time. Arthur was grateful for that, because he wasn't sure he had an answer to that question. "Stay behind me. Sir."

Arthur couldn't meet Perceval's eyes. Instead, he nodded and followed without a word.

"Sirs! Um. Lieutenant Emrys?" He looked at Perceval with wide wary eyes, casting a hopeful glance at Merlin.

"Going about it the wrong way around," Perceval said, frowning. It was customary for the subordinate to introduce himself first.

The Q-Sergeant frowned and coloured from the neck-up. "Sorry, Sirs. I'm Sergeant Gilli Merriam. I'm, um. New."

"Gathered as much," Perceval said.

Two things about this section: 1) I love Perce when he's pissed off like usually he's a huge teddy bear but when he's pissed, he's pissed I love it. 2) thus one of the most hated characters was introduced! (Like hated in the right way, Footloose wrote him perfectly). One of my absolute favourite extras was based off getting rid!
