Okay I promise this is the final Shane Hollander mixedraceposting that I will do today I swear but also not to vague about a post making the rounds (yes very much to vague about a post making the rounds) but you need to understand that Shane is the fuckass white man in this relationship 90% of the time. His ancestors are also half fuckass white guys who are telling him to invest in real estate and play hockey and have no emotions. Ilya is a beautiful Eastern European bisexual and if anything his ancestors should be the ones telling him not to fall for this lame Canadian guy if we're being honest here

i genuinely think if you hate picky eaters youre just like the most miserable fucking person on the planet. like ive never ever heard a compelling reason for people to dislike picky eaters. the most annoying person you know is making a tweet right now about how they cant hang out with picky eaters and how picky eaters are selfish. but that has never been an issue for me, because i am normal and i love my friends.

my best friend is an EXTREMELY picky eater and the most this has ever inconvenienced me is trying to figure out what we're having for lunch or dinner. but the great thing about it? im not picky. so whatever she wants im almost always okay with getting. did i want something she didnt want? okay, we go make seperate meals. we go to two different fast food places. or you know what? i eat at the restaurant she picked and go to the restaurant i wanted later on my own, because im an adult and i can do things by myself and im patient enough to just wait till next time i go out. id rather hang out with my friend and make sure she gets a good meal she likes, because i love her. why the fuck does it matter to me if she doesnt like fish or olives. who fucking gives a shit.

Me writing Hockeyshow fic: Wow I can make Ilya get stuck in beach traffic on 95 at 11am on a weekday in July 🤩🤩🤩

#prepare to get hit with descriptions like you've never seen. i can taste the air in all of these places and i'm making it your problem #and yes i AM going to make him get stuck in beach traffic on 95. or wait i guess first i should double-check certain things but yeah #sound of the summer. some guy yells at him for not winning the stanley cup that year. he's cranking the ac all the windows are down #and he is cussing out the 400 parents with small children trying to get to crane's for making him not be able to go 80mph #perce rambles #percy chirps

Not to continue with my being mixed race knot of horrible feelings Shane but I feel like if Ilya and Shane had kids Ilya would be kind of whatever about teaching them Russian because honestly at this point his relationship to Russia is like Svetlana and nothing else and obviously he misses home but he's not like my kids need to be Russian just like me (because why would they want 90% of that experience) so he's like well if they learn Russian they learn Russian but Shane has grown up with two generations of language drama (his mom didn't want to send him to Japanese school because of her own rebellion moment and also even if Shane had gone he would not really have wanted to be there so it was just as well but you can't know that in hindsight can you) and Shane projects all of this on the fact that his children have a Russian-speaking father and is like no you can't deny them a whole part of their heritage like that and then makes them go to literal Russian school on the weekends for two years until Ilya puts a stop to it. But they do come out speaking Russian and Ilya is secretly a little happy about it when he's older (and embarrassingly Shane actually has no emotions about them speaking Russian but he just had his own agenda to push)

#i also have received very clear visions of what their children look like and what their personalities are like but this isn't about that #i will say. i do think ilya being russian does up the likelihood of him not wanting to give up the language despite his #Very Bad relationship with russia. because i do know a lot of russians irl who have Worse relationships with russia and they do still only #speak in russian. but i'm not sure if they married someone who wasn't russian if they wouldn't abandon the language for their kids #but besides that i mean i think as ilya gets older russian is less of a language he feels at home in in many ways #he's like i'll speak to my kids in it but i'm not consciously making sure they grow up Russian #like a fool he underestimates how much this activates the sleeper cell experience of what shane is going through #and shane is like Wrong Answer. putting them in russian school as we speak #anyways. today you get another hockeyshow vision. tomorrow? probably more of the same #perce rambles #percy chirps

Actually I know that several months ago I was discussing ironic "if you liked Hockeyshow you should watch..." lists that just hit poor unsuspecting souls with Not Hockeyshow At All but genuinely can someone make a list like this for me. Otherwise I'm going to rewatch Hockeyshow and I'm going to be mad at it

I love how I spent like two years straight learning everything I could about English football and the English football pyramid in its entirety and now I have to start at square one again learning everything about hockey. When will the sportsfic research treadmill ever end <- is absolutely getting a kick out of the sportsfic research treadmill and could get off it at any time

#watched a very fascinating (confusing vibes that ended up roughly fine but it felt like getting edged for russophobia for 1hr20min)#documentary about the soviet hockey team and realizing the depths of what i could learn #i love sports strategy so much like i'm such a strategy non-comprehender but i love learning it anyways #and i do gotta say. as a barça ca. 2010s fan. the soviet team played so so beautifully #hockey is fun bc it's like fast and shrunken-down football and i do actually have a good grasp on football strategy. ish #to the extent that i have a good grasp on strategy in Anything i definitely have it in football more than most places #making shane and ilya both be more technically-minded i think bc writing the horrid english 4-4-2 boot-it-and-pray strategy killed me #i was raised on pep guardiola you had BETTER be giving me beauty grace style and creativity or i'm leaving the house #anyways. i suspect i will soon find myself reading books and watching things that i'm not sure how i got there #and having WAY too much of an understanding of hockey. but whatever it's fun #i always forget how much i enjoy a good sportsball and then i get back into it and remember i wrote like 20 football stories in my prime #i was churning those things out like nobody's business in middle and early high school. and i'll do it again #perce rambles #percy chirps #shameless soccer tag

ILYA TAPES HIS STICK LIKE PASTA???

#HASHTAG MYILYA HASHTAG MYPASTA #horrifying progress has been made in Understanding Hockey since last i watched this show in order #hmmmm i did have thoughts and feelings about 90s au ilya and how he tapes things but this is interesting #it doesn't really jibe with my image of his style of play especially in canon but there is something about it that makes sense #ilya's tape job is so shitty too. which yeah that checks out #i was watching pasta tape video and also a couple of other people including one of the canadian wonderkids who i cannot tell the difference #between (maybe it was macklin celebrini i have no idea. i think it was someone else though)#and i feel like that would be the difference between shane and ilya too #pasta's like i fucking hate taping my stick i put tape on the end and as little as possible and call it a day #and then the canadian kid was doing an insane precision-taping job that was really satisfying to watch but also like okay overachiever #anyways. i think that pasta only taping the end of the stick does say something about his precision and control of the puck #but i don't know enough about actually playing hockey to say. and *that* part i don't see ilya falling into as much. he is not mypasta #but idk. the shitty tape job of just the toe kind of checks out on a personality level. he's low-maintenance. he's 'lazy'#he doesn't need to be decked out with everything just-right to get the job done <- this is his narrative not mine #perce rambles #percy chirps #horrible hockey tag #i was watching the taping videos for research purposes. i also watched one of half the pwhl which was really really good #but i feel like they all fell somewhere in the middle of the spectrum and also none quite felt as much like ilya and shane #there was someone who was like i hate doing this so much and that did also feel a little like ilya. she was more vehement than pasta lol #the pwhl video was my favorite of the three and definitely the most informative
