Endpaper Challenge - The Start after hiatus
The hiatus has ended, it is now time for a new beginning. And with that, Percy So, a very good bookbinder friend of mine from Hong Kong, and I decided that we should celebrate this new start with a challenge.
When I was in Studio 5 Bookarts with Mark Cockram in London, the Arthur Johnson’s “The Thames and Hudson Manual of Bookbinding” is often used as the textbook in the studio for quick reading and referencing. In it, there are many methods and techniques that I often see, but have never put to use or even to try.
I realise that I have been frequently only using 3 methods of endpaper attachment. That is because I am only too familiar with these 3 and that I have never tried and tested the rest. So Percy and I have decided to start this challenge in September, to attempt 1 endpaper method per week from the 14 methods that are listed in the book.
At the end of it, I will be selling all 14 complete books just in time for Christmas. I do hope to finish this challenge and perhaps earn some money while trying new techniques.
