Perdido Key Family Photoshoot
It was my first referral! Someone at the second wedding I shot as Adam Cotton Photography said that we were great and the pictures were amazing and referred us to a family from Montana. I didn't even know who she was, which made it even more surreal. Anyway, we booked two hours with a group who was having a family reunion in Perdido Key, Florida for a week. We did a very quick hello and introduction and then began the rigorous process of shooting what turned out to be 24 people. Before heading down to the beach we did a quick shot of the whole group on the balcony of the beautiful hotel where they were staying.
The true madness began when we started going from the full size group to little bits and pieces thrown in here and there. From the get-go, I pulled out the monolight 600w flash; slapped a beauty dish on it, high speed sync triggers and used the16-35 f4 Zeiss lens. Having the monolight with a beauty dish and a 1635 lens definitely helped us be able to focus on posing, and people, and smiles, and background, a lot more efficiently than had I been changing lenses and lighting through every group setup!
After all of the different groupings were accomplished (aunts with the kids, grandparents with grandchildren, siblings, etc.) It was time to do individual family photos. This was where the fun started. We did some in the water, we moved benches; laid in the sand; played around with everyone... Pretty much had fun while getting fantastic shots (it didn't hurt that all of the families were gorgeous ;) we finished off with some sunset pics of the patron and matron of the whole shindig! But we weren't through. They invited us to go into the hotel and grab some tacos to take with us back to Pensacola. We ended up staying another 30 minutes and eating and hanging out with them!
What a blast... And what an amazing family this group was! We loved every minute of it!
