I... I just realized... is the reason El chose luminion... because it's a BUTTERFLY fish..?
THAT WOULD BE SO INCHARACTER FOR HER BUT IT WAS MORE OF A SUBCONCIOUS THING She only later realized how Lumineon technically fit into her subconscious catching-pattern of bugs and flying-types :D
When she caught a Finneon in Hoenn and it quickly evolved (yes they spawn in ORAS, stay with me here), she had read about it before and was more enchanted by the FULL PACKAGE that Lumineon turned out to be: The glow of its fins, the color-scheme with its pink eyes, the butterfly-aesthetic, the most alluring and enchanting cry in all of Pokemon history...and the shocking fact that barely anyone even cared about the existence of this pretty fish. Lumion and El quickly shared a strong connection: El wasn't a very skilled trainer and Lumineon wasn't really considered to be a strong or noteworthy Pokemon. And El quickly grew a desire to prove people wrong and bring out the best in her jolly-natured Lumion, make people see her for the beauty she is and the potential she HAS. For the longest time, she tried to express this in Pokemon Contests in Hoenn and to her joy very successfully so! But in the end she still wished she could prove that Lumion had just as much potential in battle too.
((Which BY THE WAY she definitely has, because I've been using her in competitive play for a long time, back when I was still actively playing :DD))
I guess in the end we're still landing on a freaking butterfly-metaphor with these two - they both just need some time to grow to evolve into their final form, spread their wings - and KICK SOME ASS >:D
