Perfect Love Devlog #67

Oh man it's been a while, how is everyone. I wanted to do another playtest by my birthday, but I didn't quite make it. Sorry for being radio silent for a bit. I was working on easter eggs and it's not really something I specifically wanna show for devlogs (just cuz it's something that only a handful of people will probably know about), but I realized that on my latest playtest I was missing one of the stories, so I shoved one in with Desmond, Iya and Gamma. This basically explains the reason why Desmond and Iya weren't there to help look for Emil in his story. For this one, I'm mostly just missing a couple of drawings for a small CG portion, so I will work on that next.

I'm thinking of running maybe two more easter eggs if I can. There are some people I wanna add, but I might wanna add them more as smaller portions instead of putting their OCs in. After that I might work on the Perfect Milo one I keep on getting writers block for. The one with the popups. I'm getting siderailed into Tomodachi Living The Dream so you know lol.

Perfect Love Devlog #66

Okay so to be honest this video makes it look like nothing has really changed, but I actually did quite a lot. All of the extra stories (minus the roulette one) have been properly coded in so that the stories will activate when you complete certain objectives AND I've named the stories and the descriptions. That and I'm basically almost done with all of @darlinglovely01's corrections, so the entire script (minus like the codes) are fixed and I just need to get to the True file and I'm solid for that. I was fighting for my life in fixing the text because it kept on changing all of the buttons colors when I hovered over one but now it works so I can stop worrying about it.

Future plans, I'm going to add some randomization for the menu. You know how the little Milo changes when you go to different routes, well, I'm going to do the pairings for characters that show up in routes except that they're randomized every time you click on the extra page. That and I need to make sure you can still access the extra page even after Perfect Milo eats all of your saves. That should be pretty easy though. What else... Easter eggs, and I'm going to probably code in a handful of the roulette stories for testing.

I think I got like two weeks left to run a demo so I better get cracking. Happy Halloween!

Perfect Love Devlog #64

I don't know why its so hard to figure out sfx for characters. It's like it always sounds a bit weird and you have to get used to it while putting them in. I had the same issue while I was doing the route with Emil and Eris. Still, I love this goofy music that this story has since most of the time this game is more dark and broody, but every now and then having a sort of goofy and lighthearted moment is fun, though this one is definitely one of if not the most lighthearted one out of all the stories.

The good news is that after this one, I have four more stories to go. Two of them are pretty easy because I just need to put in some music, but for the other two I have to find more sfxs (again) for different characters. I'll see if I can make a quick playtest demo afterwards and fix any kinks im missing.

Perfect Love Devlog #65

Oh boy, I actually sped ran the buttons right before posting this so I could post this so I'm glad the devlogs are doing their job. I finally finished all of the Extra stories (but not Special stories, that's a different thing) and then realized that I did 11 stories instead of 10, which does not fit in the 5x2 grid I made. I thought this was an issue but then I was like "Wait a minute, that means I can have 10 on the other scenes too" and lo and behold, I have made less work for myself.

Anyways, I realized that I was pretty dumb when I made the Endings screen because those numbers are all over the place, so the Extra ones is much cleaner code wise. Also, the Extra writing is placeholder and written in mouse, so I'll have to remake that with my tablet instead. The buttons are also placeholder since I haven't put a full on lock on them yet so right now they can all be accessed. I also made a new save screen so you can actually go back to the menu on these, though it's having an issue with the image button and returning back to the main menu. Lovely.

Other than that, I've been putting in the corrections that @darlinglovely01 made for me... man like probably a year ago.

Perfect Love Devlog #62

I was supposed to post this BEFORE I went camping but I didn't have time to do so because as per usual I was rushing to finish everything at the last minute. But now that I'm back, I was able to finish in the last bit of coding for this route yippee.

So I'm kind of torn on whether or not I should continue writing the other story for Perfect Milo or if I should start with SFX first. I would normally just work on the Perfect Milo one first but honestly I keep doing that and its making it very boring for me, so I might just work on the SFX one while occasionally going back to working on the Perfect Milo one. That and I'm having a hard time writing it, but I don't think that's anything new.

Unfortunately, if I am working on sfx it'll be harder to actually show any of it in devlogs though, so if that does happen then you probably won't see as many devlogs in the future.

Perfect Love Devlog #58

Muahahaha. Happy Friday the 13th! I've been kinda working on and off for Perfect Love, but I finally can answer that one ask about having Manipulation Milo and Emil interact. On and Thella is there too, I guess. I'm pretty close to finishing this scene I want to say because I just need a couple more mini cgs (which I always procrastinate on) and then I can move onto the next scene which is Thella and Violence Milo's interaction. I also need to remember to do the randomization for the mini chibis.

Right now though I'm kinda struggling on making the last two stories. I know that I want them about Perfect Milo but I'm not sure like what scenario there is. I've asked a couple of people but I can't really visualize a good story yet that I want to write. If you guys have any ideas for two Perfect Milo stories let me know and I'll see if I can add that kind of thing in.

Perfect Love Devlog #59

Yeah this quality is genuinely awful because I was recording off of my phone since I don't wanna download obs just to record this, but this thing was driving me crazy for like three days because I was trying to figure out how to run an exe file just to see if this would work and there was only two things I could find that had documentation on something like this.

The idea is like those virus pop ups, except Perfect Milo is the one who causes them upon this route. I could've just used regular images that pop up but I specifically wanted to make boxes that you cannot close normally, as well as put in various titles on the header. For instance, the header on the popup says "Why are you doing this to me?" In the future, I'll probably do actual gifs instead of just an image for testing, but the fact that his works is a miracle to me.

Other than that I've been trying to rewrite the Perfect Milo extra story, so now that I figured out the more technical aspects I can really know what I wanna put for this kind of thing.

Perfect Love Devlog #57

Wow a full story preview on skip mode! Fun. But as you can see for some of the stories I’ve randomized the exit screen so sometimes you get one character or another depending on which are the main characters for that story. Pretty neat, right? I dunno, I thought it was cool at least.

In addition I’ve continued writing the Thella and Violence Milo story and I need to start working on the Manipulation Milo and Emil story. Plus I was drawing some more mini CGs because I forgot past me didn’t actually do them. How rude.

Next week I’ll be on a cruise so I won’t really be online(this is also the first time I’ve been on a cruise, which is fun). So hopefully I can get some asks done before then.
