It's because they're all dorks, isn't it?

I mean, yes, but that's not all.

I've talked about it before, although it's been a while, but Tina and Amy are essentially the same character. It might not seem so at first, and of course there are obvious differences, but the vibe or the energy or the spirit (whatever you want to call it) is the same.

We'll start with the design choices here because that's immediately noticeable. Glasses, skirts, dark hair pulled back with one clip worn on the same side. Strikingly similar.

But beyond that they also have a similar dynamic with their respective love interests.

Both Tina and Amy go for the tall guy who is prone to jealousy and who is somewhat reluctant to give into being in a relationship with them.

And what's really interesting is Tina and Amy have some oddly similar fantasies about Jimmy Jr. and Sheldon. We've seen Tina's fantasy of pants-less Jimmy Jr. riding a horse, and in The Werewolf Transformation Amy goes into detail imagining shirtless Sheldon riding on a horse. In Pig Trouble in Little Tina, Tina imagines Jimmy Jr. wearing overalls with no shirt underneath, and then in The Locomotive Reverberation Amy imagines Sheldon the same way. Just look at this:

Also, in The Troll Manifestation, Amy writes what can only be described as erotic friend fiction. She does it the same way Tina typically does it too, by taking another media franchise setting (in this case, Little House on the Prairie) and replacing the characters with Sheldon and herself.

There are a few other similarities, but the rest seem more tenuous. Except for maybe the fact that Tina and Amy are both shown to suffer from night terrors early on in their respective series but that detail stops coming up over time.

So, anyway, yes, to sum up, Tina and Jimmy Jr. are Shamy-coded.

Recently watched all 10 seasons of Bob’s Burgers and BOY WAS THAT DELIGHTFUL.

I’ve been in a really bad art block the last few months, so I did a big page of doodles of all the kids, and been slowly cleaning them up. Figured first up was the one of all the Belcher and Pesto kids. I’ve been loving the Belchers, but Jimmy Jr in specific is hitting a lot of friend memories for me and I’m stoked to see how his writing improves because of that ;w;
