- Composer and director of the studio's music department.
- Constantly tired, since his duties include not only writing music but conducting an orchestra and being present when recording voices too. Also working with difficult people (Nathan can bring anyone to a nervous breakdown).
- He loves his job very much, even though it takes a lot of energy.
- He also loves Harry but is afraid to tell anyone about it.
- He is a rather pleasant and cheerful person when he is in a good mood. If he's in a bad mood, his behaviour options range from "I'll stand at a distance with a sad expression and stare at you" to "Come here, I'll bury you alive, bastard".
- Was the first to notice the oddities in the studio (Jay and Alice don't count as they have been in contact with shadows almost since the studio was created).
- Very afraid of Shadow Charlie. This thing gives him creeps.
Ink era / 15 years later:
- Ink Charlie took his eyes but gave him the ability to talk to ink creatures and track them around the studio. He understands their speech, even if it consists of grinding and gurgling.
- Can control Projectionist a little. Rarely enough, what remains of Ben Ray listens to him.
- Sometimes he has an irresistible desire to draw pentagrams. He sacrifices ink creatures.
- He can talk about Ink Charlie with delight but tries to avoid meeting him. If Jay is in a good mood, he'll just walk by. If in bad, then he can do some trick (ruin the pentagram or instrument).
- After Charlie took his eyes, he tied them with ribbons, as empty eye sockets are a frightening sight. Since he hides his eyes (well, their absence), their relationship with Jay became strained.
