Site-Specific Dance at the Pivot Arts Festival

See Director Rachel Damon’s newest Textile Dance in a piece that is being made especially for a non-traditional venue. “soften every edge” weaves together textiles, dance, and handheld lighting in kinetic harmony. Six women knit with their arms, creating satin walls that swallow the space in a performance that features a score of piano and cello.

Sunday, June 4 at 3pm & 7pm at FLATSstudio – 1136 W. Wilson Ave $20 General/$10 with Student ID – TICKETS

It was an interesting afternoon as a brave group of performance artists took on the friendly waters of an outdoor pool in  Washington, DC to show off their synchronized swimming (or dancing) skills. As you can tell from the sampling of images above, this was more experimental art than conventional competition.  I think it was an entertaining show for all involved---even for the man who snoozed through the show to sunbathe.
