Heyyy! I haven’t been on tumblr lately so here’s a little update from my musical journey:

I’m almost finished working on my 2 year degree in music at my community college!! I have a few more classes I’ll need to take this fall but I have a little “senior” recital (technically sophomore) coming up in May. The goal is to transfer and get a degree in violin performance :)

The last month I’ve been struggling with some tendonitis issues but on the bright side, it taught me how to practice more efficiently without causing my wrist too much stress.

I have came so far in just the last 2 years of studying violin. I went from wanting to go into music education to wanting a performance degree. I can’t wait to see where music takes me :)

I totally get why everything has been getting cancelled and it’s probably for the best, but as a performer it’s super disappointing not being able to present these concerts for a live audience. I also feel for the people who mostly make their income off of freelancing, I can’t imagine what I would do if I was on my own freelancing with no support right now. Events like this my choice of career a bit scary, but I know this is what I want to do so I’m going to keep pursuing it.

Practice journal 2018-2019 😀❤

So I accidentally made a bullet journal?? I absolutely love this little lineless notebook (you can get them at Michaels). I'm trying to enable myself for productive, intentional, goal-oriented practice this year. So far this journal has helped.

I start with a practice mantras page and then a semester goals page. These are my big picture things that keep me going week to week.

Then for each week I'm trying a new thing- making a chart and checking off what specific type of practice I'm doing so I don't slack on anything. And then below that I'm writing more specific goals for the week.

For daily, I start with specific goals, then notes and thoughts from my practice, and then what I plan on doing tomorrow/anything I didn't get to.

I also did a (kinda messy) thoughts page for this semester in terms of rep and competitions and such. I'm a little proud of it!

Now let's see how well I keep up with this- but I encourage everyone to make a practice journal that works for you and keeps you motivated! Mindful practice is so important! 😀👍 you can do it!

I’m sure all musicians have heard the phrase: “early is on time, on time is late and late is unacceptable”

Well the way my brain actually sees it is: “early is late, on time is also late and if I’m actually late I better be dead” 🙃
