Performance Obsession
NCAA Magazine Looking for Story Subject NCAA Champion magazine would like to do a profile on a current or recently graduated collegiate athlete who developed a substance use disorder involving painkillers that were prescribed as a result of a high school or college athletic injury. The aim of the story is to demonstrate how athletes develop painkiller use disorders after an injury, the consequences of that disorder, and what schools, coaches, addiction professionals, and families can do to offer support and help athletes become substance-free and successfully live a life in recovery. If you know someone who would be willing to tell his/her story to help other student athletes, please contact Brian Burnsed, Assistant Editor, NCAA Champion magazine and Assistant Director of Membership Communications, NCAA at [email protected] or 317-917-6685.
