I think we need to re-name "weaponized incompetence" into something like "pretend incompetence" or "performative incompetence" so people stop getting all defensive about it bc they thought it meant something it doesn't.
Somebody genuinely not knowing how to do a basic household task because they were never taught how is not "weaponized incompetence". A disabled person being unable to do a task due to their disability is not "weaponized incompetence".
"You all need to stop with this weaponized incompetence thing bc some people were just genuinely not taught to do things!!!" That's literally not what it fucking is.
"Weaponized incompetence" is a performance. It's the performance of incompetence so you don't have to do a task you either already perfectly know how to do or could easily learn to do but are deliberately not learning to. It's pretending to be much worse at something than you actually are.
You can't accidentally weaponize your incompetence because you cannot accidentally pretend.
"I was never taught how to properly do this" isn't weaponized incompetence, "and I keep trying but I just can't get the hang of it which is really frustrating for me so I'd prefer if you stopped asking me to" still isn't, but "and I'm going to deliberately mess it up again and again until you get tired of dealing with my messes and stop asking me to do it" is. There's intent behind it. It's deliberate.
