A Million Candles
We light candles for love, to compete with the intensity of its light, we light perfumed candles to seep into intangibly romantic poems, of impassioned moonlight tumbling recklessly into quietly lapping waves, we light candles to temper heartbeats to the silent music of the flickering flames, we light candles to set us adrift upon starry ethers while we dance under dimmed chandeliers, we light honeyed candles to remember as firelight seeps into distant spaces, we light candles for answers in the wicked flames sways, we light candles for forgiveness, as it burns in recompense, we light candles to sense wanderers in the heightening of piano notes, we light candles for fragrance, of mountain ferns and wildflowers, or of a cypress garden of white roses and orange blossoms, we light candles for prayer, for the candles bear witness, as the particles of the air and the angels collide, we light candles to practice alchemy, to unveil our hidden desires, we light candles for festivals as the light murmurs what music fails to convey, we light candles for writing letters, as the ink melts onto the shadows on the paper, we light candles to mend tears, as the salty particles simmer in the ephemeral light beats, we light candles to nurture breaths as the flames linger on exhales, and sing on inhales, we light candles for sanctuary so sorrows dissipate, we light candles as the flowers may be shy, we light candles for meditation, as the light binds to heaven, we light candles to purify the haze, we light candles for celebrations as the shimmers strike the heart, we light candles for butterflies, for tides rise as dreams descend, we light candles so beautiful madness may have an ally, we light candles to guide the travelers back to shifting shores, we light candles for illumination, so atleast, our souls are free.
