Well at home it's two tones of blue the bottom tone is slightly darker than the higher tone. There are a few K-pop posters and a Harry Potter Poster. There's a shelf with some of my penguin collectables and a pushpin board with tickets for concerts/dances and some pictures.

Umm… is that EVEN a question?? (Cats--should be obvious by my blog :D)

2. Describe your ideal date.

My ideal date involves dancing, and eating at a fancy restaurant (or a nice picnic on a scenic hilltop), and looking at the stars <3

3. Do you wish you were a different ethnicity?

I've never actually thought about that before. Is that normal to think about? Sometimes I wish I was, like, Brazilian. They're gorgeous.

4. Do you intervene if you’re getting a ride from someone and they are listening to really bad music?

Not usually, especially because normally I chose the music in my car, so who am I to chose the music when they're driving? I think I've gotten even less picky since I didn't bring my car with me to college. Any ride is heaven, since I hardly ever go anywhere without a car. But I think if it was like The Skin of My Yellow Country Teeth (look it up if you've never heard it)… then I would change it.

5. Non-alcoholic drink of choice?

Virgin margaritas are delicious, as is juice. Okay, juice wins. I very much like juice, especially the unpasteurized juice that they have in various European countries. Mmm… I was in heaven when I was in Europe.

6. What did you parents want to name you if you were the opposite sex?

Hunter. Pretty sexy, I know.

7. What is your favorite halloween outfit that you’ve worn in the past?

When I was probably, like, 12, I was a sumo wrestler. My costume had a fan (I was inflated) and everything so that I was, you know, fat enough. It made it difficult to walk, though, because I wasn't used to being so wide.

8. How much effort did you put into getting ready today?

Hahahahaha. Very little. I brushed my hair and I put my clothes on. Oh, and I put on my jewelry that I always wear (but I changed my necklace today! A+ work)

9. What should you actually be doing right now?

I should probably finish cleaning my room so it doesn't look quite so bad in here. Or I should be doing my homework. I have to read 20 pages of a textbook for a quiz tomorrow and do a Spanish worksheet.

10. Favorite character from a TV show?

Probably Marshall or Ted from How I Met Your Mother. Or I really like Olivia Benson from Law and Order: SVU

11. How many people have you corrupted into joining your fandoms?

Honestly, very few. I am very happy about my fandoms, but I don't really try to "convert" people. If you're a Disney fan, yay! But if you're not, I don't really think I'll be able to change you. Same with HIMYM and Sherlock and all the other randoms I'm in.

Princess Fan VS Anti-Disney Princess

For the lovely Mari! I hope your paper goes well and that I'm able to help ^.^

Who is your favorite princess and why?

My favorite princess is Snow White from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs! I think most people don't give her enough credit. While I understand their reasoning, I think they overlook how pure and good of a person she is. She is kind and compassionate, a dreamer, and truly believes that there is good in everyone. It's a quality that I share with her. I give people second chances and, while that can backfire on me, I believe that people are inherently good until proven otherwise. And she's not as weak as people believe either! She has quite a bit of sass, haha! She is able to catch on to the Dwarfs' fibs and call them out on it. She's actually a bit bossy :P Over all I think she has a pure heart with the best intentions and love for other people.

Name a specific princess who would be a good role model? Why?

I see Tiana as one of the best role models. Her film was the only one who really put the idea that yes dreams can come true but you have to work for them. You can't just expect it to happen, you have to work to get there. She didn't let anyone get in her way of what meant most to her in the world. She didn't lose sight of it. Her downfall was that she was blinded by her ambition and didn't see that she was surrounded by people who loved her. But that learning arc was great too. She learned that above all, family and love is just as important and that we must never let our drive push that away.

Are there any princesses that wouldn’t make a good role model and why?

I personally am not very fond of Merida. Perhaps it's because my personality is the complete opposite of hers. We'd clash if we ever met haha! I find her to be selfish and doesn't take into consideration what other people feel. For the majority of the movie too she didn't take responsibility for her mother's transformation into a bear. It was frustrating for me to watch. In the end, though, she did learn and she changed so I can't say she's a terrible role model.

Why do you think some people think the princesses influence children negatively?

I suppose it has to do with two specific things them being perception of beauty and feminist qualities. All the princesses are rather beautiful and they kind of have a formula as to why they are considered beautiful. While in reality, not everyone looks that way. This include weight and skin color. Also the fact that the earlier princesses are seen as being weak and that their sole purpose was to find a prince and with the feminist movement today. that's looked down upon.

What kind of message do you think these movies and characters send?

Above all I feel that the Disney princess line teaches young girls (and boys!) that we must always try to do good things. To be kind to others and compassionate. To empathize. To be brave and follow our dreams and listen to our hearts. That we are capable of almost anything we set our mind to and we can reach those goals as long as no one is getting hurt. I see it in a positive light, for sure. 

Do you think Disney’s message has changed with the modern times?

Yes! I'm well aware that in the earlier films the leading ladies were rather focused on finding their prince (though that's NOT the only thing they desired, it was a strong focal point). While in the more modern films, their desires have leaned more towards fulfilling goals regarding dreams and their happiness. And that it's okay to not end up with a prince (like Merida) just as much as it's okay to find love in the end.

However, the true message of Disney hasn't changed: that dreams come true. 

Were you influenced as a child by your favorite princess or movie?

When I was little, my favorite princess was actually Belle. And yes, I was most definitely influenced by her! Her hobbies and love for reading actually made me fall in love with books. As a child I read like crazy (and still do!). Also, though it's not entirely related, Ariel's personality of being adventurous and going after something she's longed for as well as her movie in general inspired me to study animation in hopes of someday making films for Disney!

What childhood memories do you recall having to do with one of these movies or characters?

Disney's always been a MAJOR source of happiness in my life. Truly, any time I visited the parks and met the characters was the best. And I always make it a point to visit Snow White or Cinderella. I love them both dearly.

Do you have children/young siblings and how do they feel influenced by these movies/characters?

I have a younger sister. She's 15 now. She's not a huge fan of Disney, not like most of us here on tumblr. But she does watch the films without me encouraging her to. Since she was little her favorite character has been Alice, though I don't know if that's changed now. She seems to still speak positively about the princesses and Disney in general :)

How do you feel about modern princesses vs. classic princesses?

I think they all have qualities that every girl should admire as well as faults we should all learn from. Snow is kind and forgiving but also very naive. Merida is independent and headstrong but she's also quite selfish. They are all valuable to learning certain lessons. I don't think we should separate them into different categories.

I think it's perfect. So very touching and teaching kids the right thing. Showing that being a princess does not mean having nice things or being wealthy, living a fairytale, but that what's inside our hearts, how we treat others, and how we strive for our goals is what makes a true princess. What I like most is that it also mentions that you're not required to always be strong and that beauty comes in all different forms. That beauty isn't only on how we look but how we act and our confidence. That everyone is beautiful, no matter what :)
