maybe a weird question, but are there any permanent changes on HRT (specifically T if it matters) that will kinda "reset" the countdown if you stop taking it? as in, if x change should kick in 1 year in and you do HRT for 11 months then stop for a while (assume a significant enough amount of time), if you start on HRT again will x change take 1 month or 1 year? (i know the times arnt exact but lets assume physics world rules, spherical cows and all). for example, hair, beards, voice?
yes, so the permanant changes that should be maximized by 1 year: it’s assuming you have a year at cis-male levels. So when you stop, and drop back down, you can count the time your levels were still cis male (that might be 11 months and 2 weeks? it might be 12 months? it might be 11 months even? i don’t know your body or lab values). when you start up again, it basically picks up where you left off, but give or take a bit: you have to get back up to cis male levels so that could take a little while or it could be right after your first dose. SO, you restart and it one month later, you could hit that 12 month mark, or it could take 2 months for you to hit your cis male range (again, i don’t know your lab values or your body). it’s definitely not going to reset back to zero. it will be much, much closer to 11 months + 1 month. (it might be much more likely to be like 13, 14 months). this is medicine logic-ed out, and not science-fact based, since we don’t have studies that prove this. but since we know that permanent changes don’t reverse when you’re off T, no matter how long you’re off it, we can safely assume that the changes continue once you restart. Mod mayhem (the nurse).
