Starting off simple.
TodayDateYourself is my project for 2016; an active way to work on me and share ideas with others. The idea is simply to do something by yourself and for yourself everyday. The extent of these will vary, but I believe the act of doing will feed the soul. There are a million reasons I feel I need to do this for me and, I’m sure, they will be revealed throughout the course of this blog. There is no reason to fill you with my crazy right off the bat. So for now, let’s keep it simple...
Check out a new coffee shop in your area. Grab something to stay, even if its for 5 minutes. As crazy as it may sound. Stop for 5 minutes. Sit with yourself. Make it interesting by ordering something new.
I’m in Sarasota for the holidays, so I checked out Perq Coffee Bar. This local coffee shop has a rustic beach side vibe. Wooden tables mounted on metal piping, a beautiful row of cold brews in the works, and a surfboard mounted on the wall. Not to mention all the baristas are wearing Flannel. It’s a great place for the younger crowd to hang out, which is hard to find here in Sarasota. Not to mention, the BEST coffee in town. Also, the smartest baristas in town. I learned a lot today asking about their menu.
Today I tried a Gibraltar and a Chocolate Donut. I don’t eat a lot of sweet treats, so I earned this Chocolate Donut! It was delicious, The Gibraltar was new to me. The flannel wearing baristas explained to me that it is a 2 to 1 ratio, Espresso to steamed milk, served in a shot glass. I hope I described that correctly. Either way, it was great!

Even though I have given up my coffee addiction. Yes. Your eyes do not deceive you. I'll repeat it. Even though I've given up my coffee addiction, Eliza and I went adventuring and landed at Perq Coffee Bar in Sarasota.
With little convincing, I got coffee. It was decaf mind you, but coffee none the less. Eliza got some sort of delicious, exotic sounding loose leaf tea. It was extremely steamy, but wonderfully tasty.
