The Eight Wives of Walder Frey

Walder Frey, the 90 year old Lord of the Twins, has had eight wives. Those eight wives have given him 28 (soon to be 29) trueborn children, and approximately ten bajillion grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Although he's been married 8 times, there isn't a know cause of death for his seven dead wives. In most cases, its also not know how his wives were related to their Houses, although its likely they were daughters/granddaughters of second/third sons(read: not very important), especially as we get further down the line.

All the wives are dressed in the colors/styles of their Houses.

Wife #1: Perra Royce

Perra was Walters first wife, and the mother to his first four children; Stevron, Emmon, Aerys, and Perriane. She has a LOAD of descendants from her four children, 21 to be exact. That number is made up of 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and then 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Wife #2: Cyrenna Swann

With Walder, she had two sons: Jared and Luceon. Luceon did the smart thing for a fifth son and became a Septon. He was actually super close to becoming the new High Septon (literally only nine votes away), but the Sparrows demanded their leader be chosen instead.

While we don't know how she was related to the rest of the Swann's, there was another Swann married to another Frey at around the same time Cyrenna was. Corenna was married to Stevron, Walder's heir. I personally think that the Swann's saw the three already existing heirs and decided that a Swann would be lord of the Twins, no matter what road that took.

Wife #3: Amarei Crakehall

She had seven children: Hosteen, Lythene, Symond, Danwell, Merrett, Geremy, and Raymund. Walder sometimes wonders if they are his sons, as "all Crakehall women are whores".

Amarei's children and grandchildren take after her in being big-boned, something which makes Catelyn want one of them to be Edmure's wife, as she thinks that they have good hips and breasts for child-rearing.

Dress # 4: Alyssa Blackwood

Alyssa gave Walder five more kids. Lothar, Jammos, Whalen, Morya, and Tyta. These are his 12th, 13th, and 14th sons, as well as his 3rd and 4th daughters.

Walder kills a Blackwood at the Red Wedding, so he probably didn't care for Alyssa much (assuming he cares about any of his wives at all).

Wife #5: Sarya Whent

Sarya is the only wife of Walder to have no children. I personally count that as a win for her. He had too many. Bro did NOT need more.

Wife #6: Bethany Rosby

Bethany had five children, one for each year of marriage: Perwyn, Benfrey, Willamen, Olyvar, and Roslin. Willamen is a Maester, and Roslin is currently married to Edmure Tully. Olyvar was a squire to Robb, and wanted to stay with him after the Frey's pulled their support following Robb's marriage to Jeyne.

Bethany had narrow hips, and like most Rosby's was small.

Wife #7: Annara Farring

Annara gave Walder children 23-28. Those children were: Arwyn, Wendel, Colmar, Waltyr, Elmar, and Sherei. Elmar and Sherei are Walder's youngest son and youngest daughter, respectively. Colmar has been promised to the Faith, and Elmar was promised to Arya, but that was broken when Robb married Jeyne.

While the children are legally Walder's, there are rumors that they are actually the children of Black Walder, his grandson, instead.

Wife #8: Joyeuse Erenford

Little Joyeuse. SHE MARRIED HIM ON HIS NINTIETH BIRTHDAY. SHE WAS 16!!!!!!!! She is also currently pregnant with Frey #120432535325, otherwise known as Walder's trueborn kid #29.

I tried to do the designs and details based around their houses, with the colors of the Freys. I possibly maybe should have flipped that, but oh well! Here are the girls!

All the firstborn sons of Walder Frey's wives use House Frey's sigil. Except at tourneys where more than one competes, then they modify it to have a boarder with their mother's house colors.

Being a 1st born of a wife is probably a big deal within House Frey. Walder might prefer them to their younger full siblings. Lothar is trusted as the Steward of the Twins. Perewyn is left with Robb when Catelyn goes to treat with Lord Walder, probably because he is a 1st son. I suspect Ser Hosteen was given the best training Lord Walder could afford when his natural strength started to show. And of course he groomed Ser Stevron as his heir. He put all his care into Stevron, but made sure his heir would take care of all his siblings.

Perhaps Stevron would have relied upon these firstborn half siblings. I suspect Lothar would probably stay as Steward for the Twins. Perhaps Hosteen would be captain of the guards or master at arms. These firstborns would probably also act as heads of families within their own branch. Like the Frey Swanns would like a squireship to be arranged, or the Frey Farrings would like a new set of armor to replace the lost set from a tourney.

Of course, without these key Freys, the house would fall to chaos of infighting. We already see this with Stevron. But now Jared is pie, Hosteen probably won't survive the Battle of the Ice Lakes with Stannis, Lothar is totally going to die by Lady Stoneheart's orders, poor Perewyn is likely doomed, and Wendel probably doesn't have good odds either.
