could we get a run down on persep for apotheosis too?
And he’s one of the old ones! There’s a lot to say about him, so I’m just going to say the things relevant to Apotheosis Arc. If you want the FULL Persep backstory.. Uh, I guess you can ask for it. Why would you want it though?
He was the second troll I ever made and has been a primary antagonist for a lot of my trolls for a very long time and then he died. (See: Got beat to death with a bat that Lopard keeps under his bar.)
When Persep and his twin, Aelium, were very young, they had a run in with a god. It was the type of old one that kind of messes you up in the brain if you look at it for too long. That being said, they both came away from it a little bit not okay.
They’ve both become obsessed with the concept of life and death. Two sides of the same conscumed-by-mortality coin, really. If Persep wants to be the master of death, then Aelium wants to be a master of life. (You can see how their obsessions might manifest if you look closely at what they’re saying).
Besides Persep generally being a bad and awful person, the big difference in how they went about nursing these obsessions is that Aelium is a practical man. He confines himself to medicine and other sciences to impose that power over life and death, he’s happy to stay there.
Mr. Persep… He plays in the realm of the occult. He knows gods exist, he stumbled upon one when he was a child after all. What happens if he seeks one out with purpose?
Time for some Persep fast facts!
-His chuckle voodoos, much like the rest of the Lycaon line, allow him to puppet his victims. He needs only engage eye contact to initiate it. For all his life he could never really do more than two at a time, we haven’t seen if the same has been true of his return to life.
-That’s right! As mentioned up above, Persep died. He died and he came back as a ghost and while he was a ghost, he did some naughty things that saw him and his soul tied to a rather nasty god (Thazilis <3). In return for conditional immortality. That god is known for playing with his followers like dolls and puppets.
-Persep didn’t like that.
-Persep permanently severed his ties from that god. In this sandbox, you should know, when someone is elevated to the realm of the immortal, they can’t so easily just snap back to being a regular joe. He’s a Reaper now! (We can talk about Reapers another time if you want, just know it basically means he’s in debt to the universe and has to repay that debt by taking care of the souls of the deceased.)
-Persep didn’t like that. So he needs a new god to tie himself to. He cannot just pick any old deity. He needs one he can mold.
-Enter Apotheosis Arc.
