LAST TUMAINI LA MAISHA VISIT!
Unfortunately, today was the last time Sumnima and I will be visiting the Tumaini La Maisha house at Muhimbili Hospital. It has been a crazy 2 years- from being just one of the members of the group to actually organising all the activities we do once we get to the house with all the kids. It is the beginning of the second semester and we are actually facing a small challenge because we do not have many people signed up for the Cancer Initiative group. Today we went to the school with only 7 people- Sumnima, Sophia, Mrs Kumar, Ms Lilian myself and 2 other members from 9th grade. Believe it or not we achieved much more today than we have in a long time. The activities and games with the children were more personal because there was a small number of us. We had more intimate connections with the children and just overall a really good time- something we haven’t really had at this intensity in a while. On the ride back to school from the bus, Sumnima and I discussed this with Sophia (the upcoming leader) and we told her that having less people sign up for the activity will not be that much of a problem because today’s session proved that smaller groups work better! I honestly enjoyed my last visit to the house and I’l definitely be stopping by once in a while when I am not busy with studying.
