Liara, readying herself to info dump: "There are like, 30 different Asari pronouns, more or less depending on the culture. They tend to refer to your rank/status depending on who you are referring too. Gender pronouns are not really a thing to most Asari. Some Asari, most of whom are disconnected from Asari culture, will request non-feminine pronouns when referred to in other languages. I have met a couple trans-masculine Asari who go by the Human Masculine Pronouns for instance."

Shep, engrossed: "Tell me more."

Liara, looking some things up, bringing up diagrams: "Most Asari are comfortable being perceived as Women, though some opt for more non-binary identities or even purely Masculine. The Prime Exorcist for instance, Zail K'Zal, was inspired by human trans men to fully embrace a Male identity. Asari have also several "Duties" which could be analogous to certain trans identities, such as Two-Spirit. Further more......

Been thinking about Mass Effect and how fucking Bizarre Garrus is as a character, mostly in the context of how likable he is within the context of what he actually is, especially in the context of ME1/2.

Dude is a cop/former cop, from a family line of cops, who is often dissatisfied with regulations/rules and is often who is often casually racist to the other squadmates (at least in ME1). I get he develops, but when laid out he is kind of...... disturibing? imo. 

I say this mostly becuase I am doing reaserch for Persona Effect and I am rereading his story/character for the first time in a while.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Garrus and his journey, but looking at him with a new pair of eyes is interesting. I am going to be reworking him for Persona Effect, since he is going to be a squadmate in that.

Did we ever learn how long it takes for Asari to grow?

For my fic Persona Effect, I am assuming they don’t reach physical maturity until they are 40-60 depending on factors like diet and stress, while emotional maturity is not reached until 80-100, given we hear Liara is “Barely an adult” in the first game.

This is relevant to the fic because one of the S-links is a 400 year old Asari mother with a 30 year old daughter. I said 30 years old Asari is equivalent to a 12 year old human.

Me Initially Designing Xan: Ok they are a NB autistic Asari with a gaming addiction. They have issues speaking, tend to lean towards isolation, and their S-link is about helping them open up. They use stealth in combat, primarily serving as Navigator.

Me, Wiser Now, After Thinking About Them More: Ok they are a NB autistic Asari with a gaming addiction. They are mute, are getting therapy for their issues, and their S-link is about helping them get together with Michal. They use a tank-Sentinal build for combat, fighting in the thick of it with Zail, while also being a Navigator.

Kinney, deadpan: I should have seen that coming.

Zail, age 210, kicking the door open: Mother I have realized I am a Man.

Lili, having tea calmly: Son, I love you, am proud of you, will support you, but I figured. You have presenting masculine since you were 70, and generally been uncomfortable with Asari femininity all your life. I was just really wondering if you would come out as pure dude or Non-binary.
