Learning Domains Addressed: Personal and Professional Development, Education, Advocacy
SWiBAT: Student will be able to orient newly-admitted Black Titans by educating themselves and their families on available resources at CSUF.
I have always enjoyed outreach, recruitment, and orientation because of the opportunity to interact with students one-on-one. Events like Welcome Day and Open House give me an idea of what the next class of students will need to succeed on campus, which is valuable to my development as a professional.
For my SLO, I ranked myself as advanced because my student assistant and I were able to connect 27 Black Titans to our resource center. Since the event, email correspondence has been made to ensure follow up with the students we met.
While I will not continue an assistantship at DIRC next year, I look forward to remaining in contact with the new student staff and incoming DIRC community members.
