Heya my dude! I’ve seen some of your stuff and I really like it and I was wondering if you had any advice to offer for this typical aspiring writer~?
Hi! Thank you so much; I’m glad you liked it! Now advice… I’m always a little wary about giving advice, mostly because I’m still learning things myself, but also because what works for me doesn’t always work for someone else.
So that’s a thing: take every bit of advice you see with a grain of salt. Some people say write every day, some people say to take breaks and not to wear yourself out of the story. It’s really about trying a lot of different things and discovering what works for you.
Keep true to yourself; if it doesn’t work, don’t force yourself to follow advice that stresses you out and ruins what you’re trying to do. And if something works for you, keep with it as long as it does.
Honestly, I used to write with everyone else’s expectations in mind, and it stressed me out and ruined all the fun because there was always that “Are they going to like it? What if they think it sucks?” in the back of my mind and I never enjoyed it or finished anything. Now that I’m writing the things I’d want to read and doing it for myself (for the most part), things flow easier and I’m enjoying the routine of sitting and writing things. (Now, I do keep adding more so I might have to cut back, but that’s a me thing).
Just remember, any advice you get might not work for you, but as much as I love sharing my writing and such, it is still a mostly personal journey. As such, it should be something that works for you and helps you grow as you write. I know that’s probably not very helpful advice, but it’s the best I have and it’s what I tend to do whenever I’m looking into new things as well!
