Personal Breif

I have written for myself a personal brief, detailing what my aims and intentions for this project are and the things I would like to look into. This will help me hit everything I initially aim to achieve throughout this project.

‘My initial idea is to look into illustration in the fashion doll industry, in concept and character art as well as packaging illustration. These are a vital aspect to any product made in this area, whether it is an adult collectors doll or targeted toward children. I want to focus on this as I have found inspiration from these illustrations for years and am interested in pursuing a career in this industry.To apply a ‘New Normal’ to this, I aim to place the characters and settings of these fashion doll brands into a world similar to ours, with Covid-19, PPE and social distancing being a regular part of daily life. I would like to do up to date character designs with PPE mixed with their usual over the top fashion and creating concept art with situations that would occur in the brand’s universe. I feel the merging of such vastly different concepts would be interesting to look at and also subconsciously bring attention to how surreal the things we apply in our lives due to Covid-19 are when seeing them in worlds where such concepts usually do not exist.I aim for my work to convey a strange unease to see such universes, which once were so separated from our own, struggle through the same situations we are due to Covid-19. I also want my work to be a statement on how in such a capitalistic world ruled by monopolies and designer brands, many companies will take advantage of something as dire as a world wide pandemic to profit and create products to sell at heavily marked up prices. Something as innocent as a children's doll company being insensitive and making products to profit off of a global pandemic will surely be a good way to convey the outrageousness of companies actively doing this in our new normal.’

Social media

My logo is now being used by my client on their social media which is at the moment their main source of promotion to their brand as everyone uses social media and it is very conveinient way to get attention by viewers. 

the next step to this project would be getting a website search engine created so that it can be online available to anyone. that is in the process of being made with another group of creators.

Development - Improving final idea

what i had to do was use the select tool on photoshop and cut out pieces of the logo and shape it so that it looked like an ‘n’ and ‘c’ together, this is the steps i used to create it. 

this was the final alteration of the idea, i then went on indesign and put the logo together..

I had to alter the letters, shape and angles to make sure it all fits with the width and length of the main design.

Development of initial ideas

I didnt really like this idea as i felt like it really looked a bit like the word ‘KNOT’ so i felt like people would misinterpret the logo.. so i then went on to designing something else..

However i then felt like the word ‘KNCT’ isnt really shown in this design but i loved the idea of linking. therefore what i was planning on doing is develop this idea further by making the ‘n’ and the ‘c’ more clearer but also linking together..

Creating ideas for the logo

At first i looked these vectors to help me with my designing, i chose these certain designs as i think they linked to the purpose of the logo. my client wanted specifically ‘THE VIP SEARCH ENGINE’ underneath the logo and also a symbolism of networking/ connecting. Main competitor - Godson the plug

the competitor for KNCT would be this comapny called Godson the plug, they provide services similary to KNCT howver they focus mainly on living a ‘lavish’ lifestyle rather than forcusing on problems going on in the world and trying to make a change to the world for the greater good. theres no charities involed.
