Hello, it says in bio you're a ☆geologist☆, how did you decide to become one and what do you do? Sorry if this is rude or been asked before, I just like rocks.
No problem! I also like rocks! Thank you for asking, I think it's a fun story.
So as a child, I was the dinosaur kid, constantly reading dinosaur books. I also got into the Walking With series so deeply, Walking with Monsters was my favorite. So when I went to college, I went for a geoscience degree specifically to go into paleontology. Funnily enough, I was the only person heading to the geology department at my first-year orientation.
And then I found out that the rocks are just as cool as the bones they contain. This is apparently a frequent phenomenon in the geologic world since Jurassic Park, known in my specific department as the 'paleontology to geology pipeline.'
Nowadays I'm part of the work force to save up for future grad school, and I am legally allowed to call myself a geologist because I passed the state exam to be a geologist-in-training! And when I go hiking I stop and stare at rocks with my hand lens
But that said. I also called myself a geologist on tumblr upon my graduation, just because it was the most efficient way to present my studies.
