Writing Year In Review

I've technically only written two fics because this year has been rough, but two fics are better than none! Thank you to @bittersweetresilience for tagging me <3.

MARCH As Flowers Wither (Genshin Impact, 10,069 words)

His slow, calculated footsteps gave Scaramouche enough time to remember exactly when and where he and Kazuha had the conversation being referenced. It had been during an after-hours spar in the cadet training grounds, the first one between them since Kazuha’s completed two month recovery from his battlefield injury. The concept of love had come up, somehow, and Scaramouche remembered his own playful words as clear as a bright winter day.  Even if I were capable of what you call “love”, it would not be easily given. Few would be worthy of it, and even fewer would possess the abilities necessary to earn it.  Bold as ever in the face of Scaramouche’s sharp tongue, Kazuha had then jokingly asked if he had anyone in mind. With his white hair spilling out of its poorly fastened tie and onto his shoulders, it was the most at ease Scaramouche had seen Kazuha in a while. Something about the sight made his chest twist, except not with pain. After pretending to ponder the question for a hopefully nerve-wracking amount of time, Scaramouche had said: I can’t say I do have anyone in mind. Other than maybe you, perhaps. 

The kazuscara mutual non-con fic that I wrote after finally realizing that I can just write whatever I want to see. And the first time I've ever written a sex scene. Yay me. It's just as miserably sad as you would expect a sex scene written by me to be. JUNE Deify, Desecrate (Genshin Impact, 5,863 words)

His hand soon reached the base of the windpipe where it split off to feed air into each lung, stopping any further movement. Scaramouche waited for the pain to come. He waited, trying once again to lose himself in the writhing agonies of his artificial nerves. They still refused to sweep him away. Dottore lowered his voice to a reverent, breathy whisper. “You are divine, Scaramouche. Beautifully so. To think your body is so advanced that it can learn the importance of breath, life’s most vital act.” He repeated the caressing gesture with the pad of his thumb, pausing at the exact nook where Scaramouche’s windpipe branched off to his left lung. “Situations such as this one leave me unable to resist pondering upon my own nature.” Some of Dottore’s sly condescension finally returned to his voice. “To have a godly creation at my mercy, where I can take away the breath it longs for at a moment’s notice…” Scaramouche couldn’t hold back a flinch when Dottore’s thumb lightly pressed into his windpipe. He despised the way his lungs spasmed and fluttered in response to that filthy, unnamed emotion. Not even the outside air scorching his insides or the electric itching of his mangled flesh knitting itself back together could distract from the emotion’s corrupting influence. Dottore emphasized his next words with another press of his thumb that made Scaramouche’s stomach lurch. “What type of being does that power make me?”

The end result of one of my writing bucket list goals: write a vivisection scene that feels like sex. Also a result of me realizing I can just do whatever I want, and I happen to really like fucked up lab whump. I think I will be doing whatever I want all the time now because I loved writing this fic. I hope to write more fic in 2026, as breaking through my creative block/hang-up over being in a new fandom is a New Year's Resolution of mine. May next year's writing in review be far more lively!

Yay Christmas is almost here.

Which means this month is almost over.

And 2024 can fucking kiss my ass

I got done wrapping presents. Yeah...this year has been year for me: Moving, selling my childhood home, getting Maddie, the election, the job search, re-modeling the house, moving in twice, my mom getting re-married, homesickness and depression; 2024 has not been a great writing year for me. However, in the last few couple of months things have stabilized and are starting to look up for me. I got my writing groove back and I want to write, on the job search side of things I've got three referrals and one of them led to an interview, meaning my resume is great is passing through HR and going to the hiring manager. I have this feeling that things are going to work out for and my job search to be finally coming to end.
