The Future
This week we started the class with a really fun quiz. The aim of this quiz was to check your assumptions. Even though I was late, the class atmosphere was vibrant and fun. As time went on I also participated in the quiz even though I hesitated at the beginning. The thing that shocked me was that when I knew the answer I didn't put my hands up to answer the question, but when I put my hands up to answer the question I got it wrong. It was really funny to me personally so I couldn't help but smile throughout the entire class. I found it interesting how I assumed things were worse in our world then what it is. This reminds me of another class statement that I had which was that our brain only goes through the worst possible scenario rather than the good one. It would take 5 bad ideas or bad things that happened to you in order to be equal to 1 good scenario. Our mind process is really interesting. Another fun activity that we did was the future food activity. It's an exercise that helps you think about the future, present and the past. For example, we discussed in our groups that in the next 50 years because of global warming we might have no access to the foods we have now, maybe we would be eating cockroaches or insects for us to survive. We also explained how in the past my family did not as many foods from around the world as we do right now fie example, we can order sushi, noodles or even subway but back then if we ever needed food we had to make from scratch. We also discussed our upcoming projects for this class and picked climate change, water pollution, and air pollution. These two exercises that we did have made me think more deeply about our future, it also helped me realize some facts that I haven't considered before because it was always it's always at my disposal. It also taught me that I should cherish my moments in the present more than focusing on the unknown future. It also reminded me with a quote that I started to understand which was "you can't appreciate the value of something until it's missing."
