Hey so. Can someone remind me in like late September/early October to do better heka during my Horus Welcomes the Nile ritual so that I do not have to drive in snow in the the late 2026/early 2027 winter months? 'Cause uh while I added that in this year it came across as more like a "if you could" instead of a demand and I have had to drive in more snow this year than my drive anxiety ass is comfortable with.

Feast of the First Seat of the First Time

Today is the end of the religious new year in my calendar. In antiquity, priests would have made effigies for protective magics, made great purifications to keep Sekhmet and her knife-demons calm, and there would have been great, heaping feasts at the temples for the gods while everyone prepares for the old year to fall away and the chaos upcoming for the Days Upon the Year.

No Words of Power today. A small meal of meat and potatoes. And a reminder that every day like every year the world renews and so too can I.

Historically, the holiday I'm basing my 'new year eve' shenanigans on is an 11 day festival based out of the cult center of Edfu. "The god is taken in procession to the place of the First Feast. All the rituals are performed, in accordance with the ritual of the Seat of the First Feast." As this festival is based at Edfu, it is Heru-Wer the festival is indicating would be taking to the Seat, not Ra (or Khepri or Min).

But that's the thing about modernizing. I can change what needs to be changed. And while Heru-Wer always deserves the attention he sorely lacks within the kemetic community, in this instance he was content to back seat it [for now] in lieu of being front and center.
