On the 4th of July Natasha and I grabbed our big backpacks and headed off to the airport ready to depart to Portugal. We were tired, and we learnt quickly that we were going to have to get use to carrying around our backpacks whether we like it or not. They were heavy, and it was rainy. Not a fun combination. We had been restless the night before, so excited to begin our adventure - and to escape the cold weather.
With our bags checked in, and our farewells said to Natasha's grandparents who so kindly dropped us off we were on our way to Portugal. It was my first experience with Ryanair too which definitely proved interesting. We naturally listened to Cabin Pressure togeather - because what else would you do on a three hour plane journey. The journey was quick, and the views coming in for landing were simply spectacular. I knew from the get go that Portugal was going to treat us well. The sun shone bright, and the crystal clear blue water sparkled.
After a hiccup at border security we were through. There was a beautiful dramatic slow motion run between Natasha, I, and my friend Rebecca who met us at the airport. I hadn't seen her in two weeks, it'd been the longest I'd gone without seeing her in about a year. It felt great for us all to be reunited. We grabbed a drink, and then headed for the rental car with Rebecca's parents who were kindly putting up with us for two weeks. They had rented a house there and had invited the two of us to stay with them before we headed off completely on our own.
To say that we had a great time would be an understatement. I have so many great memories from Portugal. I don't even know how to put some of them into words, so I'll show you instead. (Pre warning these aren't in chronological order).
The backyard at the house. I spent many lazy afternoons floating in the pool. First say there I nearly fell asleep on the blow up crocodile. It was jus so relaxing.
The second day we were there we went into town.
At lunch in town, me with my younger sister.
Rebecca does the ultimate derp face.
Tash with the love her life - nah nah nah BATMAN!
Tash was all googly eyed or these handsome pirates. She'd board their ship any day.
Me photo bombing the turtle.
Rebecca displeased at the sight of my bare feet.
Rebecca's aunt trying to fit into the kiddie ride. It was a hell of a laugh.
A long car journey from when we went beach hunting.
One word: Yum!
The golden trio.
Boats! (I know thrilling).
Beach hunting!
Channeling our inner Hamlet. To be or not to be... eaten?!
The sister and myself.

Beach hunting!
Natasha, beach hunting!
The History House, as they call it.
Natasha, beach hunting! I really like this picture of her.
The Dolphin Show at Zoomarine. Zoo zoo I go to Zoomarine, Zoo zoo zoo marine! Yes this place has it's own theme song. It's so darn catchy. We kept singing it for days afterwards.
Zoomarine. If you're a bird, I'm a bird.
Zoomarine. Seals.
My favorite photo of Rebecca from the summer.
Me looking like a plonker.
Rebecca with her Portuguese boyfriend. They were madly in love - it's a shame it didn't last. He just never seemed to speak up.
The car was dusty so we did what we do best, and drew the Deathly Hallows sign on the back window.
This has got to be one of my favourite photos. Photo bomb!
We totally did not stalk this guy... he's hot okay! Leave us alone!
We really liked those apples.
Nice bridge. I was terrified. It was definitely a Donkey/Shrek moment between me and my friends.
Channeling our inner Miley Cyrus.
In town.
Me deep in thought.
Natasha pre bird show at Zoomarine.
Strike a pose! Beach hunting!
Gorgeous beaches in Portugal. It was funny when we went to the beach though for the day, because me and my sister would swim right out in the deep part, but no one else would come out with us. They'd only really go knee deep. We forget that not everyone is use to swimming in the ocean. We've been brought up on the beach so the sea is like our second home. Everyone else worries about fish, sharks, and etc. It's interesting.
We went to the water Park for the day. None of us wanted to leave, we had such a great day. I got pushed down the water slide on a ring the wrong way which was terrifying, me and Natasha went on a two person ring slide, nearly got stuck, and pushed another person who did get stuck down the slide, we got massive wedgies, and ate lots of ice cream. What more could you ask for?
Sunset.
Rebecca, Natasha, and My attempt at Lasagna. When we first got back from the supermarket we forgot the pasta sheets, this was doomed from the beginning. On the plus side though we didn't kill anyone, and it didn't taste half bad. It just looks bad.
When we came home one day from being out Natasha realised that I had a hand print on my back. We teased that it was a ghost child, I couldn't sleep properly that night. We figured that it was probably my friends little sister's hand - lets hope that was the case.
Rebecca's mum's 44th birthday.
Napkin face featuring Rebecca's little sister.
My sister's new boy friend. 'I've really scored.' - My sister's words not mine.
I ate way too much Ice Cream when in Portugal... and i learnt my lesson. Problems with being lactose intolerant.
