Made mac and cheese using greek yogurt (we're out of milk and today isn't grocery day) and aside from a very mild sour accent from adding slightly too much yogurt, it's pretty good!

was feeling kinda paranoind about my job not in the sense that i'd get fired but i didn't know if i'm making a great job (last year was awesome for me i got a BIG promotion etc so i compare to myself from last year lol)
but today my boss told me she really liked how clients trusted me and she felt she didn't need to be managing everything and I was like :D well i'm glad
My brain: NOO YOU CANT GO TO SLEEP OR ELSE YOU WONT BE EXHAUSTED IN THE MORNING AND FEEL HAPPY BC YOU”RE DESTROYING YOUR BODY AND WHAT IF ONE OF YOUR FRIENDS FUCKING DI ES AND YOU COULD HAVE SAVED THEM OR WAIT MAYBE YOUR FAKING YOUR CHRONIC ILLNESS AND- Me: haha eyes go shuutttt
The book world doesn’t care about you.
You can throw your heart and soul into everything you do, into your interactions, and you will be punished for expressing opinions.
You will be witch-hunted and snarled at for daring to disagree. You will be misgendered for speaking out as a trans person. You will be hurt. You will be harmed. You will be hunted. You will be hated. And when you speak up about the unfairness of the situation people will tell you to be grateful. They will tell you to be glad you exist at all in this space.
Booktube doesn’t care about you. The booktubers that you speak with who claim to be your friends will forget you the moment you stop initiating contact. They will leave you behind for people more famous, more known, more “safe”.
They will claim they are privileged and want to help the underprivileged but do nothing to do so. They will take harmful sponsorships that make you feel alienated and isolated. They will claim they never want to read from hateful points of you but laud a TERFs book over and over and over again.
Book twitter doesn’t care about you. It wants you to conform. It wants you to echo. It wants you to take the most heard opinion and rehash it a thousand times. And god help you if you disagree. God help you if you try to explain any other way.
You will be hunted. You will be harmed. And you will be left behind, as if speaking out once, making one mistake, is grounds for a witch hunt.
One mistake that you try to take back and learn from. And they come for you like wolves in the night.
They leave behind only blood and bones.
The book world does not care about you. It is a snake pit filled with vipers ready to kill to gain another sub, another ARC, another piece of fame. And god help you if they are also aspiring authors.
It will chew you up and spit you out, and when you leave for your health, they will say “you couldn’t handle the pressure” and forget you in a week. A day.
An hour.
The book world does not care about you. It does not care about its marginalized authors and readers. And as it radicalizes towards the worst parts of Tumblr, all hope of conversation and nuance is lost, and book twitter becomes another echo chamber of hatred and gatekeeping, where you write yourself or the default of “cishet white” and pray no one comes at you for even that.
But they will.
They will.
They always will.
Because they want you to write diversely, but Not Like That.
They want you to write about other cultures, but Not Like That.
They want you to write something new, but Not Like That.
They want you to write your story but Not
Like
That.
Because they know best.
Because the mob knows best.
Because the chamber speaks the truths.
And deviation from the norm will be punished.
The book world does not care about you.
It cares about sales and fame.
And if you dare to step outside the line. You will never make it in their world.
So why bother.

it's so funny when a guy tells me "it's just a thing men do! i'm sure your boyfriend does too!" and i'm like actually he doesn't because i have enough self respect to not be with someone who acts like a dumbass on a daily basis and thinks it's ok because he's a man; like i am not calling my boyfriend a #wokebae i am saying i wouldn't date him if he were like that and i wouldn't date any other man who is like that. and if it means there's maybe 3% of men in the world that i could date then, who cares, i can date women, and also i am not going to sacrifice my dignity for a relationship. like, if u can't do better, that's your own problem, and i won't be your girlfriend or your friend for that matter because you fundamentally suck as a person. this is not about "wow my bf is so great", this is about me having boundaries and self respect and choosing who i want to associate myself with
i’m never not going to be mad&bitter about how my parents had no problem spending $600/month for 5 YEARS on karate classes for both of my younger siblings (with both siblings only going once or twice a month (when classes were 3x/week)), yet somehow mysteriously they never had the flat $25 fee for drawing classes at the community center or for art supplies or for literally anything extracurricular that i wanted to do! thanks for nothing!
