You’re def not overreacting, tbh I wish more people would realize how harmful that sort of content is esp if it isn’t addressed properly or at all (like the double standard you mentioned in your post) >:C

thanks for the reassurance. and, yeah, it concerns me greatly how this stuff is everywhere and nobody seems to be talking about it? in fact i often see shit like this and look up the character/media in question and often i find overwhelmingly positive reactions to the characters and their interactions, like how “cute and romantic” it is, literally. which is why i’m so so so concerned about how many people, especially young people, internalize it and think that it’s okay that their partners (or friends or family) treat them like this or that this is the way it’s supposed to be? i can’t even express in words how fucked up it is that this is considered acceptable, DESIRABLE, behavior. urgghhh
