There are good apps for people who love pets; it is just difficult to distinguish the good ones from the great many spammy or exploitative ones! Here are some of the best apps for pet lovers.

  1. The Google+ App 

Google+ has some of the best and most loyally attended animal and pet communities in the world. There are hundreds of smaller communities and dozens of large communities, and almost all of them allow you to join without having to be approved. You will find epic numbers of professional and amateur pet images, and links to tips on pet grooming, breeding, and pet-care tricks. Follow the communities or follow the people who post the best stuff and it will appear in your news feed rather than you having to hunt down the best images, videos, funny stuff and tips. The loyalty of the community members makes you feel as if you are communicating with people who think the way you do.

  2. Finding Rover (A Pet Finding App)

This app allows you to submit your pictures of your lost pet with the hopes another user will find your dog. Plus, if you find a dog, then you may submit its picture into the app’s database. The app uses facial recognition to match your dog with the ones that have been found. The app has a noble idea, but sadly the community is very small, but every little helps when your dog is missing. Avoid any paid pet location/missing pet/ pet locator apps because they are all scams. Do try to support any free pet-finding apps you find.

3. Bring Fido (A Pet-Friendly Hotel Locator)

If you come across pet-friendly location locators, then support them if they are free. Join them and promote them because they offer a great service to pet lover. The more support they get, then the more consolations they may add to their app. Find out which hotels allow pets, which attractions allow pets, and which varieties of transport/transport-company allow you to bring your pets. Why leave your pet with a sitter or a boarding place when you can take your pet with you?

You may see the current distance that has been walked, and the pace that was set. You can even give the app to your kids to help them prove that they walked the dog rather than them pretending they walked the dog.
